Hiya Dobbles, thank you very much for your reply mate. I arent proud of this, but long as I get enough for some pain relief that's all I'm after, anything else is a bonus. Stay safe
For your first grow, that is something to be proud of. Plants look good and healthy. Stretching isnt a big deal, and easy to correct next round..
I dont use hps, but i think they are good for a year of continuous growing.
Hi Indoblazing76, thank you so much for you post and your great advice. I am new to the game, but learning, and hazarding a guess as I don't know what strain I have ( because the guy who gave them me didn't know himself he just dropped me some cuttings off ) but I think these look sativa because of the thin spiky leaves, and do Indica have the slightly more round leaves. If I'm wrong I apologise in advance, as I say I'm new to the game and trying to learn so much. Im glad you helped with the kind of light I'm using, I will change them next time and use Mh for Veg and switch to Hps for flowering. All this help makes me feel great being part of a great community on here. I do take every tip in and note it down, and I'm now trying to find out the best indica as they will suit me better apparently, got bad problems with spinal probs and the pain and stress of the non stop pain drives me mad some days, but this really helps, even better than the morphine I'm on.Hiya Jonny, just wanted to drop in and say that your plants look fine and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that some strains do just stretch and stretch, especially if they're Sativa dominant and they can take longer to finish flowering than Indica dominant strains. I used to grow an Original Amnesia indoors, but had to stop running her because she just stretched all the way through flowering. Folks are right though Hps will make your plants stretch more than a Mh, but ive used both for flowering and the Hps definitely produced better quality buds than the Mh. Best thing to do, use Mh for your Veg and then switch to Hps for flowering. Cheers
Thanks very much Gentlemencorpse, greatly appreciated. Im studying lights at the moment, as this will be 6 months now these have been used, I will do the 10k hours mate. Im going to use one lot of lights for veg and one for flower mate, to stop them stretching as muchYeah, a year is a good estimate on when to change your HPS bulb ... but it kinda depends... the bulbs claim 20k hours but most folks i know using HPS swap them out after around 10k hours
No problem at all mate, im always happy to help if I can and you're always welcome to drop me a message if you ever have any questions in the future. You are right too, pure sativas and sstiva Dominant hybrids tend to have leaves with long and thin fingers whereas Indicas and indica dominant strains have shorter and wider fingers. It's not impossible to grow sativas indoors if you have the height to do it or you can use a number of training methods to keep the plants as low as possible. I don't have a lot of space so I normally grow indicas or indica dominant hybrids so look for them when choosing new seeds/strains. Its worthwhile paying for some decent genetics if you can and they're not that expensive these days. I understand that you want to use marijuana for pain relief as my girlfriend has a degenerative disc disorder so a lot of the reason I grow is to help her out. When we first met she was smoking and taking numerous pain killers to the point she was almost like a zombie. Thankfully over the years she's weaned herself off of the pharmaceuticals and only uses marijuana now. It's not going to be a miracle cure for everyone, but it helps her so much it makes me mad that with our country's laws she's essentially a criminal in their eyes. Im glad I helped with your lighting situation too, Mh is amazing for Veg and Hps will then give you fabulous buds in flower. You'll do great with that combo and keep posting pics, im interested to see how your grow ends up. Stay safe Jonny, CheersHi Indoblazing76, thank you so much for you post and your great advice. Once again thank you mate, it means a lot to me that you go to the trouble and out of your way to help. Stay safe and take care mate.
Thank you so much Indigoblazing76, I really do appreciate your help, specially with the lights, I did hear of duel spectrum which supposed to do both, but your way sounds much better, I guess its just learning how to put the Mh bulbs in properly as I believe they run off a e40 plug and I'm wondering how I fix this to my reflector, because the full kit with reflector is a little to much at the moment. No
