LOL - your process is fantastic and good for you!!! :joint: All the reading in the world does not change the fact that HE LIVES WITH HIS PARENTS!!??! Now maybe your parents aren't nosey and wouldn't be curious about the smell, or the increase in their electric bill, etc. but mine would be!! But if the OP feels that is not an issue than have at it. I was forced to move back home a few years ago, I even had my own in-law apartment with all my own privacy. But I still would not have grown!!
The very next sentence after the one you bolded said that his parents gave him permission xD

Now for MJ, I stay in my parents house. Got my own room and have permission from parents about growing etc so not doing this on the sly. I also don't smoke weed but parents do so im in it more for the hobby and will give them whatever I get out of it :-P.

You do realize the guy has already stated his parent don't have a problem with him growing it right?
Personally I think if you want to grow a plant your definitely going to have to contend with potent smells once in flowering. I've been growing indoor for a good while now and i've grown northern lights as well and in my opinion pretty much all cannabis plants in flowering will have a strong noticeable smell so if you can, you should look into having some type of grow cab as your space to work in and supply it with atleast a small carbon filter/exhaust fan setup to really reduce the smell

No, I missed that. Because I'm dumb.

I can assure you temps are manageable inside the bucket. You use a fan to exhaust the heat from the bulbs and that keeps things under control. No more than 29°C in my case, but that depends on where in the bucket you're measuring.

This is one of the light-tops I'm using right now for one of my buckets (I have 3 of them). Check it out: http://imgur.com/a/Z7jFE#0, you can see the active exhaust there.

Some bucket growers use inline fans with their setup, you can adapt the design to fit your needs.

Ah thats not too bad then, hows the smell though? Do you use a carbon scrubber or that? Also how much a plant can you get or how big is your bucket?

I can get 5 -20l buckets for decent price on ebay so could do this

The smell is hard to hide my man so if thats an issue for you outdoors may be your best bet. When I come out of my room, even veg, I smell like a big bud. It just sticks to my clothes. Im coming out with a cologne line scented like Mary J....Im naming it Au La Danké

Here is the current unit I have in my room that I could empty everything out off. As you can see it has a class door on it but can easily be removed. Would this be an ideal growing unit if I replace the glass door with say mdf or even a felt like material with velcro to keep light out?

Seems this is my only option or a space bucket or pc case. But pc case will give rubbish yields...

^ Again you're limited there with the height. And it's difficult to drill through the sides to the diameter you need for venting (that's metal right?)

Oh, well good!

What are the full dimensions? Looks like about 18" W x 18" D x 3.2' H?

Could possibly cram one of these in there, but a good quality LED ufo would do the trick, cooler.

Venting you'd want at least 90CFM.. not many inline fans that low but you could get a decent fast one and use a speed controller with it.

yeah spot on with the dimensions 18"x18"x3.2'

Could I use cfls? They seem to be a way cheaper option than other methods of lighting or am I best going with something else? Just dont want it to get too hot as my room is currently hot most of the day and evening.

Much cheaper and a decent bit cooler, of course you can. They just have a tendency to lack on the yield/bud density front. Look to the CFL section, I'm not a huge help with them.

Alternatively, there's LED house lighting by Cree.. check Captainmorgan's thread. They'll run way cooler and produce a wide spectrum with good penetration.

i would def pick a strain that is shorter and bushier like a bubba kush, def dont want sum tall as sativa to out grow the tent and have to move it.

i use led and hps and i def like my led if you buy and led prepare to spend atleast 500$ for a good one. those cheap china led's are a waste of time and money

^Well said, LED is high initial cost. Growing in general is a really high initial cost, but starting with LED makes it much worse..

Sounds good, thanks for the help guys really appreciate it! I'll go with cfl just now as my shroom grow needs them too. Thenonce I get used to how weed plants work and grow then I guess I could invest in LED and such.

Should I buy a carbon scrubber or will homemade be fine? Also how many fans should I install in my unit? Thanks again
