Hey there this is my first post. ok so ive always grown in soil i wanted to try a hydro system just a container with air stones and all that.. i germinated my autoflower sweet tooth and road runner. they looked great. now there under a 400hps light an the pther day the ph was at 9.1 i didnt no i had to stay on top of it so much.. so i re adjusted it and noticed the leaves started.looking dehydrated. next day they looked worse did a complete flush and it didnt seem to help since i think hydro is to much for me i have em in soil but i wasnt sure if there dead or i have hope... ph is perfect.temp is about 77° hum. is 33% soil isnt the greatest but used it before with other grows i just wanted to get them into soil which i no a little more about. anyone have any ideas what happened to them heres pics.

If you found your ph to be 9.1 it's obvious what happened, it's almost as if you fed it soap. You may be able to save them but it sure will set them back a bit. You've now learned that with hydro you have to stay on top of the ph as well a ppm. don't give up on hydro tho once you learn I'm sure you'll like it.

Are you able to explain the method in which you used for your setup. eg substrate, under what lights, watering/nute

Simple small container holds gallon of water with air stones. 3" net pots It was in spring water nutes were on week1 hydro from fox farm. . did notice after that the grow big wasnt for hydro nitrogen was higher i guess. 400watt hps abkut 3 1/5 ft away from them fan venting 24hrs. lights are 20/4. water was always around 5.8-6.0 ph tds was right around 1100. then that spike in ph when it was at 9.1 for atleast 6 hrs

my buddy uses extra dolomite as a top layer to help keep his PH balanced, it also breaks down over time into cal or mg i forget which one, but if you getting PH issues in that soil it is either too hot or hasn't cooked or your nutrients PH are too high or you can have a bacteria imbalance even that can make spikes in PH a lot of things can cause it to be honest the Dolomite is just simple and non very invasive way to effect PH, or so i was led to believe

thank you just looked it up. the issue with ph wasnt in soil though it was.in a hydro setup there in soil now since thats what i use mostly and there ph is now at a safe 6.8 but im not sure if they are dead or if people think they are good jus need healing. they new growth looks green and leafy not all dryed and crispy like the bigger leaves

ha im so dumb, good luck soils a lot more forgiving, something that might take hours to kill your plants in hydro will take weeks in soil, throwsome endomycorrhzea in there and some beneficial bacterias i know a product that has both, no good for hydro though , Root Bloom

be careful using a hydro system with soil as a medium. you would be better off with an ebb and flow or flood table where the water level goes up and down (or a recirculating drip system).
In soil, submerged in water, even with air stones the soil probably stays too wet. I would say skip the watering for a day or two , if they die it is because they were too wet- they should be able to go without water a while if healthy
3 feet is far from the light try about 2 ft closer

When they were in the hyrdo the medium was rockwool. when i noticed how bad they looks i planted them in.soil in hopes i can heal them with my knowledge with soil
