Help a meat lover become vegetarianish

Hi all

Firstly I am no tree hugging hippie. Ive eaten meat all my life and will probably carry on eating until i die, I have found however too much empirical evidence that shows that those humans who eat animal based proteins have a much higher propensity to suffer from different ailments whether or not there is a previous genetics disposition.
I am not attempting to completely give up meat, i want to maybe have it once a week or so, though i find the carnivor method of preparing meals very diufferent from the vegetarian one. Moreover most websites with recipes i find i feel theyre too fancy cat portion style food. I would like to do a propper transition not just cut the meat and substitute with other things i normally eat.
I would greatly appreciate any useful links, recipes you make quite often as in like day to day stuff practical and easy or plain just telling me to stop being such a pussy and keep eating meat haha. Tips and hints too btw of youve done the change

Also the idea of not having to take other beings lives to ensure my the continuity of my own in a healthy way getting same (aparently better) nutrition is pretty appealing to me. Plus if you look at oorangotangos (possibly our cousins) not only are they fucking strong and not wimpy they're also vegetarian apart from a few bugs they eat i think... So i suppose our teeth are still those of a vegetarian more than anything no? I mean we dont have canines like cats do for instance.

Going with organic meat would help you probably just as much as cutting back, but cutting back is not a bad thing. And you sir are known as an Omnivore, or All eater. So do not be like vegetarians, and vegans. As humans meat is an essential part of our diet, if it wasn't we would be Herbivores. The teeth are a clear piece of evidence that vegans are going against natures way. And People who eat absolutely no meat tend to die younger from a study I read a while ago. Keep a lot of peanut butter on hand of your gonna drop meat, because your body needs the protein.

Hemorrhoids are the worst, blamed on poor diet, but crap!.... it's meat that does that,...having your guts hanging out your anus at each dump, and man do they itch and bleed, and buddy thats just the start ....I try to eat meat 1 time per month, I'm the opposite, my babe got me into this, but what really started me off was backpacking around Australia years ago ..I used to eat at Hari Krishna cafes....fucking food was magic, amazing what these guys can do with veges ....lol
...also should you ever struggle with your meat addiction, just go visit a slaughterhouse for work, it will pay big times ....lol

I totally dig this. Have you heard of meatfreemondays.com?

Reducing your meat intake not only saves animals from slaughter, but it also reduces carbon emissions.

There's a vegan/vegetarian group on RIU I'm sure you'd be welcome to join. Send a pm to Sunni.

I was a vegetarian for a little over 4 years. Just started changing my diet a little and ate tofu or soy meat. Plenty of eggs and nuts in the morning, pb&j and snacks for lunch, and a nice pasta with veggies or tofu stir fry for dinner. Gotta make sure you get your protein!

Remember Burger king has veggie burgers and you can get whatever you want on them! Few people know about that. haha bbq sauce and onion rings were my choice.

Cutting out meat was pretty easy for me and once you get used to it and stock up on non meat products you dont even realize after a while. I was on the swim team at the time so i couldnt afford to be losing any vital nutrients and i made sure i didnt and it was easy as can be.

For a true meat lover id recommend the morning star chicken patties and mini corn dogs to help you get into it. The first time i made one i was convinced it was a real chicken patty. Same with the mini corn dogs. than you can start messing with tofu and other things.

Good luck!!!

What the fuck do you call a plant?

Sure, those motherfuckers don't play ball, or jump on the couch, but they sure as fuck are alive. Research has proven as much, and has shown that they emit chemicals while under attack that lure "defenders" who dine on said attackers, and they use different chems for different attackers. "Dead" things don't cry for help when under attack.

Unless you synthesize the proteins and minerals from the ground yourself, you're going to have to either kill something, or parasitize something to survive.

What the fuck does it matter to you meat eating knuckle heads that this guy wants to make a personal decision to not eat meat? He's not attacking you. He's asking a question, so of course that gives you guys license to come and act like a bunch of goons and insult the guy?

Acting like a bunch of knuckle dragging mouth breathers.

We're simply trying to save dude from turning into another limp-wristed, pretentious, hypocritical, vegan douchemonster that tries to shit on people for eating meat "because they're murdering animals".

Eat what the fuck you want, but don't think you're not "murdering" anything to do it...unless you're eating rocks....or sand.

We are carnivores here at our house, but we eat red meat less often. I roast or broil a lot of salmon, tilapia and chicken with a lot of fresh vegetables.

One simple way to enjoy vegetables that is easy to prepare is roasting them in the oven. I find we eat far more vegetables if they are seasoned in an interesting way.

I have a convection oven so my cook times and settings will differ from a regular oven just FYI.

Heat oven to 375

Slice cabbage into slim rounds and place on cookie sheet,
add a few rows of fresh (not frozen and make sure it is dry after washing)broccoli,
add a row of sliced bell pepper any color,
add a row of sliced sweet onion strips

brush all vegetables lightly with olive oil, add sea salt, fresh cracked pepper, either fresh garlic or a minimal sprinkle of garlic powder and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

I add bacon bits to the top of the cabbage slices as well.

roast in oven 30-40 mins or til all is tender

I also roast fresh pineapple in the oven adding a bit of brown sugar that caramelizes and tastes wonderful for a simple dessert.

Sentient beings whose eyes you can look into and see the suffering is where he is coming from. Factory farming is disgusting. The little bit of meat we consume here mostly comes from a local butcher who sources from local farms. Not every vegetarian and vegan care to admonish meat eaters, usually just the fresh to the scene kind or opinionated types.

I find the trait of standing up for a belief to be commendable especially when the belief involves staying the suffering of those that cannot fight and speak for themselves.
