Hi guys, I've been following this forum for a while and decided to sign up.
My grow is 2x Auto Northern Lights Feminized by Sensi seeds. It is my first grow, and we started out with a friend of mine. Being the newbs that we are, we made some crucial mistakes out of necessity that I was initially determined not to make. To be able to illustrate these mistakes, Im gonna try to summarize our grow journey here. Right now we are in about day 33-34 of Veg stage.
Lights: 6x 23 watt CFL--6500K on a 18/6 light schedule--- While HID was not an option for us, (due to price and heat issues) I've observed these do be doing their jobs. I will add 2 more this weekend.
Grow Medium: Now here's the troubled part, We germinated these girls in little rockwool starter cubes. We would later on plant them into bigger rockwool cubes as roots began to show then finally into 7 litre approx. 2 gallon pots filled with hydroton which was to be watered by hand... This here was a method another friend of ours(whom has completed several healthy plants) swore by but would ultimately fail us.
One of our seedlings seemed to display stunted growth.(and weird, almost white marks which I now just think are genetic), germinated with only one seed leaf while the other had two and was growing rapidly. And being aware of the whole "plant in your final container" situation, before the end of week 2 our little seedlings were sitting in their big rockwools in 7 litres of hydroton each.
During week three, while we had already started light nutrients the plants started to first show signs of over watering and then under watering, We couldn't really keep up with it. During this week our "healthier" plant's bottom leaves started turning yellow
We were giving them their nutess, so it couldn't have been N def. so I figured it had to be root problem. So what we did was flush the bare younglings with ph 5.5 water, hoping for the best(so sad). Which actually did immediately show effect that night. The leaves weren't as droopy anymore So I went home to where I live and left the plants with my 'partner in crime'.
The next morning my friend made a flash decision to transplant the rockwool cubes into coco coir. While transplanting is all together a huge mistake for an autoflower strain, after this move the plants actually got back to life! The previously slow one was already doing ok, and unfortunately we had to crop 4 sets of fan leaves from the sick one. In roughly a week they got back on schedule and have been growing well since. Here are their pictures taken yesterday...

My question:
During the transplant, my friend made the mistake of putting much less coco coir in the pot then he should have. Being 7 lt. pots they are, already not optimal for autoflower growth, this both leads to less deeper roots and a part of the pot actually blocking light passage...
considering how my plants look, would it be sensible for me to actually lift up the plant and add more coco coir into the pot to raise the plant? I am not concerned with the small one but the larger since it has a larger density of leaves at the bottom and frankly shows more promise than the other. Already going through one unfortunate transplant, would adding more coco at this stage cause the same amount of stress as another transplant? What would y'all suggest? We messed up big time with these girls but with all the time and effort we put in I would love to maximize their potential(or at least whats left of it) Any kind of input is appreciated. Peace & Love
