Westcoastguy80 what is ur container temperature? Can u give as a picture of your roots? Best temperature is 68-70 F which is 20-21 C. 18 is quite low. I'm having my room at temp 22 as well as my container. And as i said keeping the container on the ground will always keep it cooler, then u only need to make sure it doesn't get too cold.

Hey guys thanks for all the awesome advice.

I may have no choice but to just from scratch unfortunately which sucks because I spent $50 on some beautiful Barbara bud seeds and was getting close to doing some cloning from the two healthy ones.
I have no PH or EC meter so basically I'm screwed.

I chose hydro over soil mainly because I didn't want to risk pests but the one thing about going with soil vs DWC is that its way more stealthy as there's no noise from the pump. Are pests common in small closet grows? Easy to manage?

I can just disconnect the water pump and convert to soil if I want but I'm thinking about just getting a PH and EC meter and monitoring and adjusting along with adding proper nutes. From what I'm hearing, hydro takes a bit more time to learn but once you do and you maintain the proper PH and EC levels in the water, its self managing and roots grow wayy faster.

I currently have a basic hydro setup with a six plant res, a water pump with stone bubbler, intake fan, and 3 cfl's.
Everything was going awesome until the PH problem hit....

I don't have res temp or anything guys.
It's my fault for not having the extra meters etc.
The temperature is probably at or just below room temperature right now but as the summer hits it could be a different situation.
What is everyones thoughts on hydro vs soil?
Putting extra costs aside and knowing hydro will grow a bit faster, should I just make a switch to soil?
It's just a small 3 ft box. I can't add a chiller into this DWC and with soil it would be wayyyyy more stealth.
I'm worried about pests tho even though they should be manageable.

lol. DWC is way more complicating in all points u look at it. Sure the yield would be better if grown properly. But TDS and pH meter is a must! Currently i'm experimenting on hydro ill give u feedback in about 3 months. If earlier then i screwed :D

Comparing root rot / proper nutrient solution / slime / + pests, Soil can be as much complicating. Just stick a few fly trap stickers in the closet and u'll know the level of ur pests activity all the time.

What u mean stealth? Does ur parents not know u are growing dank in ur closet?
