I have a Afghan x Yumbolt 12 days into flowering. I have it under 300 watts of hps lighting. It's a bubbleponic hydro grow. I'm fairly new. I got exciting by seeing pre flowers. Thought removing the fan leaves would provide better light penetration so I removed the majority. Now I'm second guessing it. Was it smart or did I ruin everything? Please let me know. Help please.

Big mistake, fan leaves are the factories of the plant, never could understand why people do this, Mother Nature doesn't.

I dont want to sound mean but to prevent you from doing it again; that is the biggest mistake you can make when growing. Those leaves store energy, and that energy will be dearly missed as your lady tries to bud. Your nugs will lack the size and density of the quality bud all of us are after.

Well, you got that coveted light penetration...

Just water it, feed it right, and don't touch her again in anyway. She'll live but the quantity harvested will be down some. You learn as you go along.

FYI, next time you think of something great to do with your plants, come here and ask about it first. I learned that the hard way :(

I am sorry to have to be the odd man out here. Defoliation is a highly controversial method. As you can see here by the response. However it has been proven to help increase flowering production. The key is most of the defoliation should be done in veg. Some can be done in early weeks of flowering. The technique is quite advanced and not for beginners. Some go to extreme to early. This is a proven method to grow in a small space and max yield output. One should definitely follow the advise in the link I provided above. Its better to imitate success then create your own failure.

Either way don't worry about it she will be fine might even surprise you and some others on her flowering production.
Take a look at my signature link to my grow journal you will see I defoliated mine and she is producing some very nice flowers and she is very sexy looking mama too

Finally a glimmer of hope. I'm going continue to spoil her and hope for the best. What do u think about lst or supercropping her when new seats of leaves grow? Could it help my yield any?

Yeah, it was abit early to be removing fan leaves there matie.
Personally (since personal experience is all i can really share) i cut some but not all my fan leaves off rather late into flowering, sort of once all the bud sights have gotten started but havnt hugely fattened out yet.

I mean its not the end of the world that you have done it now, will probably just reduce yield not make it unsmokable, take a breath man and realise there's alot of people on here doing things that are a hell of a lot stupider.

Having said that i wouldnt go LST or doing very much with her at all at this stage, just let here do her thing, see how it goes and learn from it.

PEACE.

I do some big time LST/FIM'ing to my plants, sometimes I remove leaves...
I think it funny, that some who might say: "Why don't you FIM or LST or supercrop" would never think of removing a single leaf...
[FIM/LST/Super Crop] All Tempory do damage to your plant in the hopes it will recover and grow bigger/better...

I look at each leaf ... Will this leaf help, or hurt the plant...
Sometimes, leaf touches soil, and turns brown, REMOVE IT.... Yellow and ready to fall off... Remove it....
Leaf hanging over and blocking another plant in Veg, trim it....
At 20 days into Bud Room, I remove leaves that need it...
I predict, the longer you grow, and watch your plants the less leaves you will remove...
Good Luck Man... and Happy Growing!!

And, once into Bud Room.... I let her do her thing... then 20 days into bud, I look one last time...
Leaf removable option date +20 into bud...
Then, just enjoy the grow...
