HELP- Hay/grassy smell (unique situation)

I have read many posts and done many searches on this subject but could really use some help with my situation.

So, I got a good deal on some buds from SoCal that smell of fresh cut grass/hay. I did not grow them and I have no knowledge of the growers methods. All I do know is that under the grassy smell is a deep skunk and citrusy smell. The skunk is only noticable in the room that I keep the bud, but not once you get real close and smell it. The smoke smells of skunk/garlic too.

Most of the stems bend but do not snap. There are still some flowers on the buds as you can see from the pic. I did leave a sample out overnight and more crystals are becoming visible, although the smell has not changed but has decreased in intensity slightly. Overall the bud does not seem overly moist, however it is by no means dry and brittle.

I want this bud to be the best that it can. What would be the best steps to take to minimize any damage that may have already taken place and to get the bud to its highest potential. Any ideas are much appreciated!

how long has this bud been off the plant? i just cut mine down and while searching other threads trying to figure out if it was ok that mine no longer smells like bud and more like cut grass/hay, i saw your thread. sounds like you might need to cure it longer....

Since the stems do still bend should I dry it more before I put it in jars for curing?? I do not know how long it has been off the plant since I did not do the growing but I assume that it needs to dry a little more. Any suggestions on what to place the buds on/in to dry properly?

I was thinking of putting it in paper bags till tomorrow night and then transfer it into jars depending on whether or not the stems bend or break. I have never grown before so this is all kind of new to me. Should I trim the smaller leaves off before putting it into the jars for curing?

As some have already pointed out, the grassy / hay smell is because it hasn't been cured properly.
Curing is done to really bring out the flavours and odours of the buds, in your buds case it hasn't been done properly (if done at all).

You could cure it yourself but that would require some jars, a hygrometer and some patience :)

for curing put it in a jar with little extra room and burp it every 5 hours for a week, or very day for 10min. one good way to prevent mold is to throw a silica packet from beef jerky packages in there to absorb moisture
