When growing outdoors next time go 30 gallon or bigger. Even then you may have to water often by then end of the season depending on when you started the plants. I got clones put out in June in 65 gallon fabric pots they need water every 3 days in this heat.

It has been 100 degrees for the last 4 days. That might be why too.

Yeah was 103 plus all week here. Just stay on it. Igrew outside in 5 gallon buckets, 3 & 7 gallon plastic grow bags. All of them needed watering twice a day in triple digits and once a day in the 90s.
Thanks for the info bro. That makes me feel better. This is only my second try growing outside. Only did 1 plant outside last year. I am used to growing inside and controlling everything to how I wanted it. 250 plants indoors felt easier than dealing with this outside weather lol.

Really? This will work? I will totally do that if it will help. I am gonna order 100 gallon pots for next year
Yeah, it will keep the gophers away from the most vulnerable part of the plant and still allow it to grow. Gophers are a menace, that's for sure. Invest in some traps, a little work, but worth it.

Thank you for the heads up. I will be burying them for sure. I know I have good soil....just bad gophers.

If it was my plant. I would circle it with some mesh fencing. If there in the ground, there is no need to worry about over watering them. Personally, I use more water in flowering than most people. I don't know of a case of root rot in the flowering cycle.

buy a pack of tampons. the ultra flow hover dam stopper ones, should go without saying but remove all the plastic. carefully remove as much of the top layer of soil as you can...basically bury them as deep as you can without harming your girls. Bury 5 or 6 of them, more the better really, it's just tightly wrapped cotton. replace the soil you took out, cover the tampons and water. Laugh if you want, but it works. But if watering twice a day is no problem for you and you can tend to them that often, then just stick with that.

I cannot lie this shit made me laugh. However I see how good of an idea it would be. Like a internal water reservoir. Thanks for the tip jdog!

When you incorporate the word "tampon" with growing, it does typically generates laughter. lol. But I used to do this ALL the time back in the day...like high school days. when I had to be more stealthy with my grows and I couldn't tend to them as often as I would have liked. But like I said, it's just cotton. wont hurt the girls at all.

Along those lines...water crystals could be scratched in, if the OP is a male and would prefer not to use tampons.

Also, a plastic gallon milk jug with a tiny hole poked in the bottom can be filled with water. Position the gallon jug over the top of the weed pots that drink a lot and you've got a constant drip waterer. A friend used to paint them flat green and use them in the bush to get guerilla plants thru dry spells until the next watering. Larger plants got 3 jugs...
