Help ID this problem, please?

Hello, I'm about 2.5 weeks from seed with some WW and bubblicious from Nirvana. I installed my 400w MH about 6 days ago and the plants seem to be growing well...except for some problems with brown spots and necrosis on the leaves...

They are in FFOF and I have NOT given them any nutrients. I assumed the water might be the problem, yet my pH is between 6.5-6.9 on aquarium and pH pen tests. They are about 9 inches from the shielded light and cool tube. With just the cool tube and an oscillating fan the temps stay from 72F-83F. It could be heat stress so I moved the plants a little further away from the light but I'd like some more experienced growers opinions.

This is my first indoor grow at this location, I'm using a 3x3x6.5 grow tent. I do have a 165cfm fan as a room exhaust but the ambient temp around the grow tent is 60-70 during the day, and I've left the exhaust running only to come back at night and find the temp at 54F so I don't use it unless it's warm. I used the same water for outdoor last summer with great success...

Hopefully that's all you need for info, I do have the FF line of nutes(grow big, tiger bloom, big bloom) so any help is appreciated.

Put them in bigger pots and watch them flourish

with your previous lights? were they really close to those leaves

They were small fluorescent tubes, they were about 2 inches from the canopy. It's possible when they grew taller the oscillating fan blew the leaves to smack into the tubes, but I never saw it happen.

I had a couple leaves on 1 plant that were just like that, all the new stuff grew normal and the plant was great in the end. do you plan on keeping them in the party cups the whole cycle? or just temporary

I usually keep them in there until I have to regularly water them once a day. After that 3gal pots, and if I have to 5 gallon buckets..

Still can't figure it out...posting a couple more pics hoping it helps. I thought it was a pH lockout of some sort but like I said the pH appears to be fine...I haven't fed them and MAY need to but it looks like something different than nutrient def.... wind burn? My humidity is anywhere from 25%-40%.

raise your humidity or mist them more often and adjust your waterings. or let some water evaporate in there, but also keep the temp good.

rainforest have humidity levels that are a lot higher. try that out

Well I have a wide and shallow container in there with water evaporating, the humidity right now is 32%. The temp hasn't gone real high, it's definitely between 70-85(right now 75). I lowered them about 4 more inches from the light and reduced the oscillating fan from middle power to lowest setting. The new growth seem alright. So you think they are not moist enough and that's causing the problem? If so I'll have to mist them some when the light goes out.

no, I think they are perfect, but since you said you still had problems I just thought of other shit. The only thing I figured was wrong was it being too close to the light and burning and drying your plants out.

I'd say to water your plants a little softer, they look like you tried to counter the problem with more frequent waterings. good luck man

Alright, thanks for the help. I'm hoping the changes I made will have an effect. They don't seem super unhealthy, just not perfectly healthy Again, thanks for the assistance!

I would start thinking about a feeding cycle for your babies too. It's about time.

Ya, I was wondering myself if there's some deficiency...maybe I should give them a shot of big bloom...or I'll dilute grow big to 1/8 power or something to start. FFOF usually supplies them with enough nutes for a few weeks...but like you said, it's a little over 3 weeks from seed, I'll give it a shot next water.

Mine little ones did that when i scooted them to close to my 1000 moved then and stopped and grew fine when i pushed em farther away. Those couple leaves never got better. And no you don't need a bigger pots at that size

little plant on the top left... it was too close to the light and the leaves were all ugly like that so I topped it just to mess with it because it was ugly anyways. and it was the 1st plant to harvest and It grew 3 colas

But just to say again. you're plants are about perfect, they look really strong, just keep giving it attention.

Hmm. Alright, that must be the problem. I guess 9 inches was too close after 2-3 days at a foot and a half under the HID. I moved them back to about 13 inches away. Hopefully they'll kick out of it, though the growth hasn't slowed much(They've grown 1-3 inches since HID was installed) I'd rather not push my luck. Thanks for the help! Hopefully I won't have to revive this thread =D

Thanks! Makes me less paranoid that I'm doing something that will harm them in the long run.

the extra toughness they go through and survive is what makes the strongest plants, it's like exercise, they just start pushing and handling their nutrients more efficiently and being able to handle them like champs and really blossom some poison buds
