Help identifying an inline fan and correct speed controller to use with it

I fell into some equipment that I would like to use but I am having trouble identifying any info on the 6" inline fan that I have. The placard states FT-L-6 as the model number but Google has failed me so far. How can I determine the motor type without tearing the entire thing apart?

The second part of my search is for a compatible speed controller to go with it. If the fan is a shaded pole my understanding the reducing the voltage with a standard TRIAC lamp dimmer is appropriate. I am heavily into HomeAssistant automation so a smart dimmer that would allow me to control separate day and night temps would be ideal. I have found a dumb controllers that also do this like the Grozone TV12

I run a similar fan only 12 inch

I used the speed controller for two weeks before I decided there isn't a need to reduce it

I won't concern myself with that feature on future fans

No I only run it when lights are on
I have alternate air sources as well

At full power that little fan is only 125 watts and that is almost nothing on the electric bill

I'm not too concerned about limiting the speed when the lights are on as the 600w HPS should need lots of help being cooled in my 4x4. I was more interested in controlling the speed when the lights are off as the ambient room temp can dip into the 50's during the winter. I want to be able to balance the temps, odour control, and air exchange with a single fan (and space heater if necessary).

I could easily run the fan for 5 minutes every hour when the light is off too but I was worried that the frequent on/off would be hard on the fan.

Not to mention I like the idea of having complete control over my environment with automation software. Makes me feel like a god

Same opinion here. I have spend almost 200€ on temp/speed controled fan, but it will never do what you expect. It is fine when it goes slower when light off, but annoying when light is on and the temperature is on the edge and fan is kicking more and than goes less and more and less. You will be always depending on the ambient air unless you run AC and other units. And even if you do not feel you need that air exchange because of the temp/light, you definitely need it because of RH when lights off. So you can go this way but it is half worth the money IMo.

Fair advice. Seems like it is more hassle than it is worth.
