Help! Looks like magnesium deficiency

So I have four plants total. 2 Northern Lights and 2 Jack Herer. The northern lights strain had a magnesium deficiency about a month ago. I foliar fed with 1/2 tsp/gal epsom salt a couple times. I also started adding 1 tsp/gal epsom salts to the feeding schedule, which is general organics by general hydroponics. The deficiency went away after about 2 weeks. the plants are in soil/perlite mix with dolomite lime added at 1 cup per cubic foot. I just put them under 600watt hps to start flower 3 days ago. Last night I noticed what looked like the beginnings of mag deficiency again so I foliar fed with some new botanicare cal mag plus iron I recently purchased. Now today I check on em and the deficiency has exploded. Both strains have it and its getting bad fast.

Is this just a typical mag deficiency that I can correct by foliar feeding with epsom salts and increasing to 2 teaspoons per gallon during watering?

Is the plant getting too much calcium, or something else, that is locking out magnesium?

Why did the foliar feeding of cal mag plus seem to increase the deficiency?

I'm starting to think it may be light burn. the light was ~12" away and i gave them a foilar feeding in the day. any thoughts?

Thanks for the link. Nice beaver. I'd say my issue looks most like the image of heat stress. Is this what you were suggesting?

This often happens the first few days of flowering. Raise your light a bit, like to 24-30" above the tops and give it a few days. Don' t buy into the "closer to the tops the better" BS. Your 600 should be at least 24" away. Don't do anything drastic, it will pass.

hmm curious why you say 24in budley? drop some knowledge on me because i like to keep mine around 12in ideally though sometimes can be around7in with no heat stress here but i do have a good amount of ventilation.

Coverage. How can your 600 cover any area if your bulb is 7" away? Most reflectors are designed to cover a 4 x 4' area. I have run fixtures that were so cool that plants could touch them without heat stress, still had the best results at 3ft away w/1k hps. 50-60watts per sq ft is optimum running your 600 at 7" is 2.5 times that.

I see you're rocking a verticle setup. That is different than a flat/reflector setup. I have done experimented with it in the past (verticle) and would like to try it again. Doesn't scale up to 12k well for me so I went flat again.

that's the info i was asking for as i am not adverse to trying new things as long as they seem reasonably stated and that did..also i do not want my ladies 7inches away but sometimes things do not go as planned especially with a new strain.

i usually shoot for 10-12 inches but i may just back them off a little and see if it improves anything for me.

Vert is a whole different animal. Without reflectors you can definately get alot closer, your covering almost 4x the space so you certainly have to make the most out of every photon. Way more effecient if you can get it dialed in. It's using the inverse square law to your advantage, that's for sure. Would love to try a big stadium setup someday.

If you check your soils ph and find that it is bang on don't add dolomite lime. Only add dolomite lime in the correct amount if your soil needs to be zoned in to the proper ph. Do this before you plant. Use litmus paper to check the soils ph. One cup per gallon does sound excessive.
