You need to verify the state of the trichomes on the bud, its the best way, I find. You need a good mag glass at least 100x...... Dont cut to early!

I thought a 30x was needed to view trichomes... you can get a okay one from radioshack for like 20 bucks. They should appear slightly amber in color but not a full amber color as that means the THC in them as has begun to degrade if I'm not mistaken...

You dont need a magnifier. It is a nice item to have sometimes but definately not require. I harvest when about 75% of your pistils (hairs) are red/brown. I'd say you have a bit longer you are looking about 40% IMO so maybe 1-2 weeks. how long have they been in flower so far?
