That is the truth for sure. Ya gotta crawl before you can walk. Just sayin'.If you need this to make you money ASAP, you may be in for a rude awakening as it takes a few grows to get the basics down usually.
Cuz why do you needs an expensive steel box when a tent can do the same thing for a fraction of the price? Plus you can break down a tent in no time and hide it if you need to, how do you hide a growbox?Oh please elaborate on this! I would love to hear why you say this!
For a first time grower with no budget would suggest scrapping the tent idea build a small room with prope vents and do the hybrid lights. You can actually use multiples off 400WATT hps over 600watt in a tent its more efficient and cooler then 600watt. The main issues i have with tents are that i am a taller person and even qith a 6ft high tent you have to realize how low yoyr lights will hang so trying to maneuver through can be a pain. They are not smell proof and if you wwnt a smell proof area spend the extra 100$ and get a Ozone generator for OUTSIDE of the tent or room. Also if money isn't a issue get a good probe blue labs make the best! run hydro until you figure out the science of growing. People say dirt is easier well they probably grow in dirt i do both and for beginners i recommend hydro and later when your comfortable with your strains and grows you can make the switch over. I personally prefer organic coco veganic if at all possible love our earth and our grows! Happy growingAnd why is soil easter then hydro? I was thinking hydro was easier man? Cuz the soil drips and leaks and its indoors how do I keep the water controlled and my plants happy?
I am not referring to things like that, rather a stealth grow box is made out of furniture for instance. Like a big dresser used as a veg box. That is soo much cheaper than all the other options, is stealth, and ultimately more efficient as you modify it to your exact needs, and save money by buying supplies desperate, this meaning better air ventilation, lighting, etc. tents are not bad but for the kits, the mark up is crazy high! Growboxes like the supercloset are nothing but a cash grab IMHO.
Hey wuddup I'm just looking for everything I need to know. Have about a 2000$ grow setup budget. Just for the setup I have more for other things. I been lookin at these grow cabinets and tents from supercloset idk if they will grow like they say it will not trying to waste money lol but I need it to fit in my closet be reasonably quiet and smellproof (I know it will smell when I open it and tend to my baby's(plants) but that's okay) I need some advice from expirenced growers on how to make my first run a good run. I'm going to start in about 2 months and buy a few auto flowering strains or many just some quick grows but i need to pull out a pound a month. I need to learn to grow first then I can worry about adding more plants but I need a setup that will do thay for me for about 2000$ at most. 2100 or sum like that is fine too.BButbasicly I have 2000$ in two months I'm going to purchase everything I need(once I know what I even need) lol and I need to be able to pull a pound a month (or more) on a 2000$ setup budget let me know my best options I need sumbody to train me. And school me let me know about those guys at super closet to I'm kind of hoping those are actually as high quality and grow as good as they say. LET ME KNOWW

also being that its his first grow, he wont see anything close to your numbers even if he had the same space.First off I don't believe you can pull a pound a month from one of their cabs. It takes at least 7-9 weeks to flower, even auto's. I pull a pound a month but I'm in 2 4x4x7 homemade cabs with a 600 in each cab and veg for 4 weeks before they go to flower. Oh and I have less than $1,200 in my set-up.
this is pretty spot onMy advice:
1) Buy a tent, grow cabinets are a waste of money.
2) Keep your expectations low on your first grow, you will fuck up. But if you dont fuck up too bad you can recover. It's a learning experience.
3) Do your research before you buy, otherwise you will end up wasting money. No one here can give you advice on the perfect growing setup for your situation, they can only offer advice on what worked for them. And what worked best for them might not be the best option for you.
once you know how to grow, and or grow well, then 95% of yield will be decided by your genetics yes.The first thing to get to that goal is genetics! 95% of yield is genetics.

In imho your nuts saying hydro is easier u have to check reservoir all the time ph ec and all that good stuff not to mention res changes if you're home all the time ok go hydro if u work like I said soil or coco is easier set and walk away

Any hydro system relying on timers means that you need to monitor your garden daily. Working in a hydro shop I have heard horror stories from guys whol lost whole crops because a time malfunctioned. Not to mention PH buffer zone is a lot narrower, water temperature is extremely more important, and EC is a lot more important. Im not saying that hydro is "hard" as it is just more of an investment up front and not something you can just walk away from for a day or two and know everything will be fine when you get back.
Over the long run non drain to waste hydro systems are usually 75% more efficient with regards to water use. Your not spending too much on medium, like with soil. You dont have to hand water, and everything is usually fed through a central reservoir.

1) Buy good equipment, dont fukk around with LED, or some cheap fans. Good equipment, is less of a headache later. Save money by DIY little stuff like pots.. etc..
I've been burned buy buying some cheap ballast off of craigslist. Dont skimp on lights or fans, I had some dayton fans that I ran for years, NO problems, same with a panasonic whisper fan.. NO problems.. Also I hate to say it but after running digital ballasts, Im not impressed. My old magnetic ballasts were rock solid. Now I do like the dimmable feature.. however running a 1kw at lower wattages supposedly messes with the output spectrum. And the ablity to split a 1 KW into muliple outputs, like 600HPS/400MH etc.. Ive already blown up one solis tek, I've never blown any on the mag ballasts I wired myself.
2) Go spend TIME reading books by Jorge Cervantes, Ed Rosenthal, Soma.. DJ short, etc... Buy a kindle and fill it up with ebooks, and read them.
3) Pros dont run auto's Pros run carefully selected clones, If I run from seed I'm lucky to find a good one in 6 months. Find a nice clone if you can, You wont have the wasted space of all the clones, and moms you gotta run lookin for a keeper. Just run one strain, easier to dial in. Especially if running a perpetual harvest,
4) Keep it simple, its easier to troubleshoot, less cost. etc..
Most importantly, have fun! I had the same to spend...First thing I did was order the genetics I wanted(if I didn't do that first, I'd be all setup with "good" equipment and no seeds worthy of the setup cost anyhow I put the majority of cash towards: environmental controls, purchasing fans/filter/lighting larger than called for using a 3x3 tent...so happy I did that, once I setup the tent and 8 of my 9 seeds popped up I realized that I need another 5x5 at least for flowering, using the 3x3 I have for nice veg area. Ever time I thought I was good to go...The girls need something. You'll be fine, enjoy the process respect the plants and you will be livin large in no time. I also get excited and start to think about harvests too far ahead of time. I'm telling myself that if I get even 4 dried ounces off the plants that survive, I'll be good on personal for a min. and can then focus more energy on dialing in tea's (nutrients) and training styles to produce medicine on the level the local dispensary wants from its growers. The first time I grew my own, I saved about 1000 a month from not having to buy meds. Didn't have to dispense any. Good growing and do what you feel. .don't listen to me

IN SHORT i think you should go for a mylar tent setup, invest in a nice overpowered duct fan with a fan controller or something, something that will last. also as this is your first grow ive found coco coir to be so very forgiving and easy to learn and use. for example starting ur seedies off in 100% coco with a 150-200ppm pre charge of nutes and then later on transplanting into a coco and perlite mixture, higher ratio of perlite for more frequent waterings etc. treat this as a learning experience and expect nothing but a hand full of smokable bud
just my 2c
