Help me spend $300!

So the wifey gave me $300 to put into my hobby. My current setup is a 150hps in a 16x22" cab that works pretty well for me. So I'm dying to try an led light, more specifically a blackstar 240. But I'm still on the fence about it because I'm gonna be pissed if it sucks when I know I can buy a tried and true hid light. I could probably get a tent with a 400w in the $300 range too. So what to do!? I'm also open to all other suggestions and no I can't get more than $300 out of her :)

600w and a cheep tent...if you have a small light you could get a 12 bulb T5 648w and a 2x4 tent for 300. 0r do a 600w hps. not going to grow lbs every month, but enogh to keep you and a few buddies high every day ;-)

Lol no, biggest I would go would be 600. I could probably get a tent with a 600 and fan for 300 too

hop on craigslist .. get yourself a used 600w and a used tent for about 300.. and you got a pretty solid setup! And a extra $200 will get you a 4x4 flood table setup and youll be rockin

Hah I was also hoping for someone to tell me to go for the led! My end vision was to have a 4x2 tent with 2 bs 240s. I do have a little heat to deal with coming up here, closet ambient will be another 10deg. I think a cool tube setup in a tent could
probably be kept cool easy enough too.

Lol I guess I should have added that space is an issue, I can really only come out from the closet wall about 2 feet but I can make it like 7 feet wide. Maybe a light rail? Oh wait, I only got 300 bucks!

I put together my setup with tent, fan, filter, and 400w hps light for around that budget. Check out my journal if you want to see it.
Definitely checkout Craigslist, there are some awesome deals on lightly used stuff all the time.

well if hiding your grow is know concern i would buy some wood a staple gun some nails a and a hammer and make a 4x4x4 wodden cab then i would buy a fan filter and another hps. then i would put all in side the cab and keep your other area for propagation.

50$ for the cab

70$ for good filter

100$ for centrifugal fan

150$ for good 400w light setup mag ballast

wasnt too impressed with the blackstar 240.. didnt even bother to flower with em. There good for cloning/veg tho

300 goes quicker than you think with this hobby...
all starts with wanting a quick single room single light

then you're like.. Maybe I should start cloning and drop 30 on propagation stuff

Maybe I should get better nutes.. Maybe a ppm meter would help

Maybe golden soil pre nuted with magic ground up beans from jacks beanstalk

U can build your own ballast/ignitor/cap cheap. prob 60 bucks or so for the setup. Wire yourself, and get rolling. Spend that 300 wisely and get the best u can get. spend it on decent longterm hardware ^_^

U can even make your own cooltube. Buy a big glass vase and attach it over the bulb ^_^...Do a little research and think about things before spending. U cant turn back the past. Lots of good info on here, lots of people to help out
