Help My HID light sounds wierd!! + rep

Hey guys i have been having this wierd problem with my HID light, when i start it up it lights up nd everything is normal, except that it makes a wierd noise kind of like static, electrical after about an hour it goes away........ should i be worried or is this normal??

Srry forgot to mention its a SUN SYSTEM 2 250 watts mh/hps

I dont have a technical answer mate but it sounds like it's just getting up to speed, if it stops perhaps its fine. Have you done the obvious like checking the bulb fitting etc.?

if its the bulb thats normal till it warms up, if its the ballast it may be time to think of a new one.

Mine does the same thing. I have the SS2 400w. I think it's the ballast warming up.

Thnx guys for the answers.... its literally like 3weeks old, i bought it brand new, its an enclosed ballast nd im sure its not coming from the bulb im just not sure if its really something to worry about since it stops in about an hour...

Oh ok good to hear its not just me, yea ur prob right it might just be warming up

Some bulbs start up silently and others make a weird electrical ring/buzzing sound. It's totally normal. Even bulbs from the same manufacture do that. The two hortilux's I've dealt with startup completely different and they're same wattage, using the same brand of ballast, and were tested on the same electrical outlet). Why I have no clue. Bottom line is I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it fires up bright all day who cares?
