help! no way to ventilate in closet grow!

I have a closet space in my room that I've made into a grow room. But the bad thing is. I have no way of routing hot air out. Which has limited me to only 3 cfls for fear of it running too hot. I've been keeping the door open and a fan blowing in on low most of the day. Which could get me in trouble. Any suggestions?

Oh and another thing how many lights should I run (cfls) in this 3ft×2 ft area. Mind you my goal is to do a sog auto grow or still sog my bag seed

Hello mate my mate had a slightly bigger closet and he ran a 250w hps, just had a fan suspended blowing directly on the bulb. He had no vent either and manage to get away with it

get a LED UFO or pannel

the whole heat issuse will be gone ...........just need to blow air in to exchange it so the plants have Co2 and Oxygen to use

the trouble with CFLs as the plant grows u need more to cover the area to get what u want in the buds ..........the LED will replace this trouble along with increase the yeild compared to CFL ..............the rest of it is the same power run time

idk i see that being a waste of time but depending on where u live medds mite b more pricey. and more of a illegal matter.

vent the closet through the ceiling. cut out a hole for the vent, and save the piece of sheetrock for repair later...

i just ran a test of led vs hid

it does well .......the yeild was lower due to the watts being lower (engery of lights effect the yeilds)

but over all yes LEDs do a great job tight dence buds good amount of resins

is the light i used .......but i am growing auto flowering plants they do not need the change like photo's do.........if u are photo strain u need a veg/clone light and bloom light

1 u need to factor in certin things
power soil feed seeds ..........those 4 things are one time use items so u count those water only if u are city water and then u need to make sure to filter/purge it of the chemicals they add
2 here is the math
1 x for the cost to make u whole
2 x the cost to allow u to double up
3 x the cost for time effort/risk factor

so say it cost u 90 bucks to make 1 plant to flower 90 x 3 is 270 per OZ ..............the LED light i was able to pull 3 and half off one plant that does normaly 4 oz and some grams ........other plant i only got 5 and half oz were i was doing 7 or 8 with a hid (could of been the watering/feed i ran out of stackers mid way)

hydro u are looking at about 40 bucks a plant since u remove the soil cost ..........good soil cost money and shipping

that is how i was able to start running my thing here .............only talk to buddies/family that u trust and keeps mouth shut

anyone else what ever the hell u want to ask for it ................personally i only smoke a OZ a month the rest of it ppl i know want it so i just make sure it is the best shit possible for the area if something does not turn out right u eat the cost make BHO or cannabutter

i just ordered this light a few days ago was woried it would suck. im glad to see it worked for you. i might have to get some more.

well they are good ..............the only thing i disliked about it was the power cords are only about 6 feet so to use in a tent system u need to run a power cord to inside the tent then plug a timer into that cord in the tent then the power to the light into that

if u have a 10 /25 power cord get it out and plan where u are run lay and attach too ( i use the dr120 tent it has 2 cord ports on the back wall mine is at the top back port for that i run the power cord up over the bar then across to the plug)

if u do not have a power cord ...............do not your a one of those 3 plug 6 foot extention cord (the wire is like lamp cord )

u want to go and get a real power cord from the store ..............home depot sells this one

the plug head where u would put the time has a push locking system so it will not slide out and it has a light in the cord so when the power is on a little LED is lit up but if there is no power to the cord hat light goes off ...........it helps me do a quick check of the system

I just got a tent thats got a fan and its only half full with a 400 watt HPS but it already runs hot so im switching to led hoping that will help. I have two 100 watt advanced led that are good but they were expensive and dont cover enough area. How wide of an are could you flower with it?

420-if you have the money for a ufo thats probably your best choice because cfl's wont let your plant bud like it should and one of them gives off more heat than led i was using to bud 3 plants.

Everyone talks about how cool CFL's run.. I don't agree. Turn off your fan and try to unscrew a 26w cfl
You would probably want ten or more 26w mixed spectrum cfl's in there and you would have to likely build something to hold all of those bulbs. By the time you mess with the rigging and buy quality bulbs you could have bought the sun systems 250w HPS. This is guaranteed to give you quality plants and I will guess that it will run cooler than 10 + cfls. You can use this light to veg and bloom your autos thus you will have a perpetual grow room.

It's a good idea to toss in a few 6500k cfl's to aid in keeping your plants short and bushy when vegging under hps.

Not all autos are small. I have a Northern Lights auto going and it's way larger than I would have imagined it to be. It's as big as my photo. Have to select strains that are labeled "short"

You just can't go wrong with the all-in-one 250 hps. As suggested LED is another great way to go. That Apollo lamp looks great for the money. The reviews are pretty good. To do better in an LED you'd probably end up spending $500-$700 on an area 51. I'd probably get one if I didn't crush my bumper on my truck last month

What about smell factor? This will give you away faster than lights or heat coming from your closet. All plants stink and the smell is very recognizable. There is really no way of getting around buying a quality vortex fan and carbon filter. 4 inch will be fine.. hang the fan and filter near the top of closet and vent out through the ceiling or into another room through the wall. This will cure your smell problem and most of your heat problem. Run a regular fan across your light. Walmart has awesome 6 inch fans with a clip for 10 bucks. You may not need to keep the door open. Without the inline fan and door closed you are just creating an easy bake oven

CFL is the least desirebale way to go, but that's not to say they don't serve a purpose for side lighting, vegging, cloning etc..Don't be like me and spend a bunch of money on cfl's and a vanity fixture and y splitters and a quality chord and a reflector and harware and tin snips and 6 hours of time to figure out you should have just bought a small hps or LED..

See, I think about you guys even in my sleep. I woke up today thinking about why sog with Autos is a really bad idea.

1) Autofem seeds are expensive as all-get-out. By the time you buy a quality pot, soil, nutes, and seed you are in $40 per plant. In your next grow you will have to buy seed all over again when you could have just used clones.
2) Due to restrictions on number of plants in most areas you want less, but bigger plants
3) If you do get busted by either a parent, landlord, roommate, or the police what will look worse 8 small plants or one monster. In the eyes of the law I believe that a plant is a plant.
4) Autos may not have the medical traits many people are searching for
5) Autos do not necessarily finish as quickly as the seed banks will have you believe.. I'm going to say that 8 weeks is the minimum, but 10 is in the realm of reality.


All in all, you would be better off to buy feminized photo seeds and do a scrog on 1 or 2 larger plants. I started with autos like many people, but now I'm kind of down on them for various reasons..

take pins out of door hing hang a piece of panda film over the door frame instead of a door cut a hole for your vent. they make hid lights specially designed for closets. 250 w something like that. floros can veg a mean plant but don't have the penetration for good flowers and a good l e d panel is like over a grand

the reason i advice autos
1 they can stay in the same system the whole life
2 they can be grown under one light whole life
3 the time period is shorter do to u running on a 20/4 (30 days of flowering on a auto is equaled to 50 days on phot0)
4 the cost a auto is lower then the cost of a photo
5 the amount of gear neeeded is half of that of a photo (2nd tent /light/ bulbs/ fans) u have to have them in a tent with 12/12 so your growth of 18/6 has to be in a second tent


now u are talking feed and soil ..........it currently cost me 90 bucks to 110 bucks per plant (power soil seed feed),,,,,,,,,,,,,,i pull anywhere from 4 to 8 oz off a plant .......my monster auto got me 26 oz and 20 grams 24 oz of it was good the rest i turned into cannabutter since was fluffy

now for the medical and over all power...................i do not know what u guys are talking about but if u look around the only autos that cost a bunch of cash are the brand new ones on the market ............the older ones are at the same price as photo seeds

the power and medical use in them are not like it was 3 years ago ..........they been crossing the auto plant with almost every strain out there i just sawl Humboldt seeds has new Autos out .................and they are crossing with the medical shit Blue Dream is now a auto

I've got 6 100 watt cfls. I'm only going to grow once with cfls then I'm going to grab a hps right now it's just a one bag seed that I found. It finally popped and is growing quite well

Hey man, do you have a basic fan? Do you have a window in your room? How about some light cold air intake to keep the air in the closet moving around and fresh. Open the window and place the fan at the base of your closet door just open enough to let the air in.

Also, do you currently have a hydrometer or temperature meter to see what actual temperature is right now?
