If the root grew some more then it's not dead so maybe the plant will make it. Give it a couple of days and it could potentially pull through.

I usually don't let that little white root get as long as soon ppl say you should. As soon as the seed cracks and the little white tip pokes its head through I know it's good and plant it. Like he they said above just wait a day or two maybe it will moke through. Did you only order one seed? It's always good to order more than you think you will need especially if you are just starting out. You could go 24/0 on the light for the first week or two if you want. Most people drop it to 18/6 to save electricity and bulb life. That's one of those things that is a matter of personally preference. Just be careful with that hps with young plants. I'd maybe keep it a little farther away at first. It is REALLY easy to torch new plants with hid lighting. I have a 250w and I burnt my tips a little and had them about 20" away, but if the room is cool you can get it closer later. No need to rush it. I started mine for about a week or two under fluoros before I put it under the hps.

What Sonar said..
And I would drop to 18/6, alltho theoretically more light should mean more growth, from what ive read the plants benefit from the dark peroid aswell..
Something about transporting certain things in the plant is done more efficiently in darkness.. (bla bla im stoned so look it up) :D

But in general, just relax.. Its plants, stuff takes time.. Rather wait a day than do something rash and make bad into worse is my rule of thumb :)
