Help PLEASE!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! last night this lil lady looked unbelievable, I come home from work, and looks like it's about to die.

this is the second time this has happened. The first time, I read my nutes wrong and put too much in, washed the system out, and put fresh water in, yet still managed to lose all of them. This time, though, I did a little more research and dropped it down to about a 1/4 of the nutes for a week, and 1/2 for the last two weeks. They're just about a month old, and its a DIY drip system (been too lazy to go grab a air pump and some stones to make it bubbleponic). Lights are on 24hrs, and the water pumps for 45 mins every couple of hours.

I think it may be because I didn't let my water sit out for nearly as long as I have before, and it's some kind of chlorine burn, but I also pulled my lights away a bit incase it was just getting to hot.

Any ideas? aaaand..of course.. can she be saved? and if not, what could I do to save my other lil lady? cause she still looks pretty good to me..

This is clearly a pH problem. The wavy, deformed leaves indicate a low pH and the brown spots in the middle of the leaf, a nute lock out.

You either had alot of chlorine in the water or simply didn't check the pH.

pH was checked before I put it in and it was at 6. And the nutes are pH balanced.

and I actually just checked it again, and it's still right at 6 on the dot, same as yesterday right before I changed out from the old water.

what are you're temps? what does the root system look like.

ok, so i feel like an idiot for not having a thermometer laying around...

but anyways.. i'm bullshit cause these were PURE WHITE last night...and a little thicker...
they both have a few long roots that run all the way to the bottom of the tank...

first one is the drying up one, second pic is the other one....

I noticed something in the 4th pic. At the base of the stem there's some white stuff. I've never had the chance to see something like this, but I do know that a constantly moist stem will produce mold. (This is why it's always recommended not to water directly at the base of the stem.)

Stem rot would explain why nutes cannot be absorbed...

I think you might be right there. Anything else would of affected the other plant as well, which looks perfectly healthy.

What exactly should I be looking for as I sift through the rocks and rockwool? Just mold or something specific to pot?

and if it is indeed s.r., the ladies are toast, correct?

The plant is molded at the base of the stem right above the rocks.

the roots look nice a little brown but i'm sure that's from the hydroton, i use it too. when you clean your res do you have a light clay build up on the pump and tank. heat should be at 72 at the canopy but really 68 to 90 works, but over 85 thc developement slows or something like that not quite sure but i deffinately read about it. what about ventallation and what is the diff in temp between night and day. Brain storm

sorry i took a break and answered without reading recent posts sounds like you guys found the problem. keep us posted

ok.. i believe the white you guys are seeing is just parts of the hyrdoton not getting wet..
got a close shot with the rocks moved and the rockwool exposed for opinions though..

and the grow box is located in the basement, the temp NEVER changes down there for the most part, and its 72 degrees all around the basement. it may be a little hotter in there with the lights... also have an oscillating fan inside to circulate air.

and i dont really ever have a build up of clay on the res and pump, i took roseman's advice and cleaned the rocks ten times, and then decided to wash it like 10 more times.

i don't see any mold on there. The hydroton has salt build up from nutes also it looks like your stem is just trying to root. could be wrong

Yeah, the mold should have been much larger in order to actually inflict so much damage, so it's probably salts.

Well, that puts us back to square one.

Roots look fine, no mold there.

i hate to say it, but i'm almost positive it was the water. i put same amout of nutes as last week and they flourished...like..in two days i saw more growth in this system than i've ever had in soil in weeks.. the only thing i did different was i didnt let the water sit out as long..

i think i'm gonna get some r.o. water and clean the tank out and see how they do for the next couple of days. would this be wise or any other tips or ideas on what the hell couldve happened?

I'm honestly stumped.

I guess the only thing you can do is to wash the system clean.

EDIT: just to cover all the fields, are the temps and humidity high in the grow room? I remember that heat stress can sometimes raise the edges or even twist the whole leaf.

i'm gonna try that, and i'll post up in a few days with an update..

i used to get that when i was using a cloning machine, water got to warm and ended up with root rot
