caterpillars aka moth/butterfly larva , wherever it came from there are probably a lot more. BT- bacillus thuringiensis (spelling?) is a systemic bacteria or something that kills em, or beneficial wasps like tachinid wasps will lay eggs thay kill the caterpillars. if you can find them they are easy to kill by manually squishing them, but if you like butterflies and moths just remove them and set them in a different spot
