HELP set me up...THE RIGHT WAY!

I have a bedroom available. hard wood floors, lowest part of the house (actual two steps down). gotta do the measurements, but for now its about 10 ft tall, 12 ft wide by 10 ft wide. two windows on one side (like right next to each other). again, have to take measurements, but probably about 3 ft wide, by 4 ft. tall. And I have about a 3,000 dollar budget. I am doing it all 100% legal. so only 6 plants in my county. Will be looking to only talk with people who have been succesful and know what they're talking about. I do not want to waste my time growing some brown, or even green and purble... its gotta be green and purple with hella trichromes poppin out eveywhere, and orange and white and purple hairs, and you know.... lol i could go on... but you get the idea. I don't want to waste my discussing bullshit, lets get to it.

SO lets start with what I'm thinking for the beginning....
Ventillation: I want to connect the room to my central air conditioning system. But how do i do that, i will also be doing some research on this... I have been into my attic and seen how all the other ones are connect, and the big silver box that im assuming is dispensing all the air. I just need to know how to add another black hose to it lol :).

Then once that is done I'm thinking from inside the room run a fitted hose that splits into two opposite directions runs down across the ceiling, and then down two corners that are opposite each other but on the same wall. run it so they let the air out on the bottom of the floor. cool air goes lower right? then have fans blowing it throughout the room and onto the plants.

Then suspend some set up in the air that has a vaccum sucking air into it, and then through a carbon filter, and into a hose and out one of my windows...

for the windows what is the best material to use, the best way to seal it, keep the light out, the whole shabang.

That should show where my understanding is after watching some videos and things i've read, i could be totally wrong as to how I'm supposed to utilize intake, out take, carbon filters for getting rid of the smell, air circulation, fresh air supply... anything I'm forgetting... co2...but i hear they're expensive and don't have the money for that now.

Lets finish there, I appreciate anyone who wants to help out through any of these stages, and who is willing to help me out, I think it will help a lot of ppl out, and I do have a a lot of knowledge already (I think) and will have a successful set up at some point so will be able to give back :).

Im surprised since you have central air you dont already have a vent in your room. But if you don't sometimes they put vents to rooms that dont need it for instance bathrooms don't need an ac vent but alot have them so I would use an existing line first. And its better to have the ac vent or ducting close to your plants and lights cause thats where all the heat will be. you also want your exhaust on the opposite side so it kind of creates a wind tunnel effect. Also good vented hoods for your lights will make a huge difference with heat. If you have an attic above you I would exhaust through there because a vent coming out your roof looks much better than coming out the window of a bed room plus heat rises so thats where you want it anyway. If your only doing 6 plants Im guessing you want to grow them big so a scrog or a "screen of green" might be the best option for you. for lighting it just depends on how big you want your plants. In my state I can have up to 5 plants and its just a fine so I used to grow my plants as big as possible. I had 4 plants in big rubbermaid tubs under 1800 watts and was getting around 1/2lb per plant < but these take a lot longer to grow and the longer you grow a plant the more likely you will screw something up especially if growing is new to you. For your windows as far as keeping light from leaking and still looking normal stick some curtains on the inside of the window frame and put up some poly behind it white side facing outside and ducktape it up. Then take a look outside and it should just look like some curtains but it also should be light proof. Anyways hope this helps you a bit.:peace:

wow, thats a big room, could almost put 4 -1000 watters in that room, i can only have 6 plants too. i went with 2 -400w, in a 7'x 6' x7' tall, check out my journal, maybe get some idea's, onething that i have learned through my research is that you have to have almost the same amount of intake as you do exhaust, their has to be air in the room for the exhaust to work properly..... otherwise it creates a vacuum lock, and it pulls air from anywhere it can just my theory, its working for me, good luck on your setup, took me almost a year to Design mine !!

Sounds very similar to my room and I only grow 3 plants at a time and I grow them for maximum yield. My setup was a lot less than $3000 but its just a basic one that works very well. To cover up the windows get yourself some black and white poly film (panda film).

Cheers

alright hi guys, sorry it took me a while to get back, had to tend to the wife and son, first chance i've gotten.

so o.k. trunk5 that is a great video, already seen it, and where i got my understanding. but im still a little confused on part of it. the ventilation. it's the part that is still most confusing to me about a setup, if anyone wants to throw out like an extreme dummy explanation...but key to it would be getting into detail, because i think from last post, you can tell i have the general understanding...i just need it all to make sense to me.

so nickbbad keep the exhaust opposite the intake...keep the intake on the plants and maybe run it directly into the hood. cuz it's the cool, fresh air? the exhaust is air going out right..

so myGTO2007 i checked out a bunch of your pics, kudos on the setup man, good build. on one of your pictures in the inside the room set of pics i see the fan (active air) and on top of the ceiling it looks your exhaust right...? so whats goin on there, what is everything doing. whats the red coffee looking can doing, the black filter looking thingy, the silver thingy, and then just a hose to lead up into somewhere right? would work perfect for me cuz that would lead into my attic like nickbbad was saying..which makes complete sense...

but hey nickbbad before i try to understand what your saying about covering up the windows check out the video trunk5 posted, a) it is a great video, but b) in the beginning hes got how he shows to cover up a window, but he does hook it up to the exhaust... I think that's what they're doing at least... Couldn't I just cover it the same way, but not cut out the whole...

To continue...
I found the already active line i will use for my intake...thanks nickbbad, makes much more sense lol. i'll cut a whole in my ceiling, do i need any more filters on this end??? or will the filter that i already in place for my whole house be good enough... i know i want to keep out bacteria and fungus and stuff. i already do replace my air filter at least once a month...keeping my family healthy ;). coming out the ceiling i run a hose that dispenses the fresh air right into the room...i dont' need anything on the end of the hose...just air coming out??? and i dispense this right onto the plants.... i'm going to put my plants in a corner... to take advantage of the wall to line up mylar... so the hose that is dispensing the air...should i cut it off so that it is still at the top of the ceiling, and assume the air will drop down into the corner and over the plants...obviously will help if i point it in that direction i know. or should i run it down the wall in that corner where my plants are and cut it off maybe halfway...or at the very bottom....? and then if that pic that mygto2007 has is an example of an exhaust i can throw that in the opposite corner of where that intake is... and run that hose into another whole i cut in the ceiling and into the attic. I want the smell taken care of... so im hoping and assuming that that pic mygto2007 has is an example of an exhaust, and included in all those individual parts is like a carbon filter...or it is the general idea of how to do it.

if all this and my understanding is correct then cool, if not :( i guess i need a better explanation. but if it is right...lets move on to the actual equipment. looking for recommendations on def. price friendly stuff, but even more importantly good quality, long lasting. like i don't want the hood to get spots...i hear if there are no spots it helps keep the crop at same height. but other stuff like:
carbon filter
air vaccum or pump or whatever
oh but that brings up something that reminds me i def. need a better explanation, and more understanding... mygto2007 the whole vaccum lock...exhaust needing to be able to handle more air then is in the room....i DO NOT understand how that all works... but the video trunk5 posted that we were talking about being a good video goes over i think the same topic...and i didn't really understand it either...so def. need help witht that....

alright guys i think we got enought to talk about again in the meantime.... soon we'll get into the fun stuff...i lvoe agriculture and def. know the basics so we'll have fun....i will only be grwoing three plants i think because i think my money will restrict me to amount of lights. i need to put out 10,000 lumens per square foot...soo....ya but if someone has some numbers and math put out for how much reflectivity i can get out of mylar and positioning and put it into a lumen number that would be cool...but we should hold off...first just ventiallation...we will get into the lights :)

thanks

if your running a lot of lights you want 1 intake/exhaust for the for the room and 1 intake/exhaust for your lights. for the lights it doesn't have to be an ac line it just has to be cool air you could take it from a separate room or where ever. Here is a Pic of it that should give you an idea of what it would look like.

There are a couple things that I would do differently though for instance if you look the room intake and the exhaust are too close together and I also dont like the light rail because you can't move the lights up or down individually. But it gives you an Idea of how the ducting is done. For hoods I suggest these http://www.growlightexpress.com/grow-light-reflectors-4/super-sun-2-reflector-43.html They give a very uniform light distribution here is graph

You can find other reflector tests here http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=51325 and the graphs start about page 3 so you can check out other options.

For smell I just use a ozone generator but here is some info on all types of smell control. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/90893-ultimate-odour-control-thread.html The ozone generators are in the 3rd post. I got to go now but I hope this answers some of your questions.:peace:
