hey everyone i have a plant indoors but idk if it male or femaleits on 18-6 now too find out all I have to do it 12-12 it right ?

Plants show when they are sexually mature

I dunno about the "sexting" scene....you kids get up to some weird stuff these days....

Takes about 4-5 weeks minimum to show sex characteristics in veg.

most plants will show preflowers in veg. Topping them will usually help and most preflowers show right below where you topped. plants from seed are mature when the nodes alternate.

My plants usually show preflowers at the 10/12th node . As mentioned topping effects this.

Plants from seed will show sex once matured around 4-6 weeks of veg. Clones are different they can show sex sooner as they are usually taken from a plant that is already mature.

So they will show sex of the light scheldue is 18/6

Yes ...but not always...once a plant is mature and if its female it will show as preflowers...two white hairs coming out of calyx. Males dont have that feature and usually hide their sex until flower time.

I top any plants I want to find out the sex of and put the top in a glass of water under a CFL on 12/12 in a closet. Within a week to 10 days you'll know the sex and they often root so you can stick it in some dirt and reveg it right away and have another plant.

Or you can do it up like a proper clone from the start if you plan to keep it.

As a newb to RIU I know my opinion is likely to be seen as .. But most plants wont tell the untrained eye until at least six weeks out of the medium..

Males IMO are much easier to spot than females in the early stages. But with females there is no mistaking, so if not too sure what to look for at 3-4 weeks wait for pistils if you think its a female.

Males will look almost like a claw or a claw giving you the middle finger, whereas females will look like a little Rugby ball pushed into the node.

If you have anything capable of magnifying 30x or more you can see which you have much earlier with a bit of practice.
