Help understanding PPM calibration results

I also sent his question to Bluelab but haven't heard back yet. Wanted to get your guys input;

""Hi - I was doing some testing of my BL(trunc) vs a cheapo meter I got on Amazon. All my readings from the BL are all with in the results i'd expect. However, when I used a calibration solution, I am not sure how to make sense of the results. They don't seem to match up. It seems the cheap meter matches up better. So It got me thinking so I wanted to ask you guys if my meter is outta whack? Any help would be great. Here are the results; ""

The seller of the cheap brand has stated many times the PPM scale is 5 conversion.
Thanks

I wouldn’t trust the cheap manufactures statement. Who’s ref solution were you using?

Can't you work out the actual ppm you are putting in so you don't need a ppm meter?. It's a one time thing unless you change lines.
Hahaha, Right? I don't even use them except to double check as my schedule is dialed in. You're completely right! Good call out..

However, There are times I use boost or other unfamiliar products that I do rely on my pen for. I just need the piece of mind in knowing my gear is on point. Esp. at the price of Bluelabs equipment.

I only use blue labs solution to check their stuff. My truncheon has been solid for a few years with no issue. I’ve dropped it kicked it and it still reads perfect.

When I buy calibration solution it has the ppm's on the label. I test it and see how close my meter is; seems simple. I don't understand why the GH solution has 3 different ppm values. That's why ppm's and math is so confusing for stoners.

You’ve never had to deal with VA math lol.

It was my understanding that uS (microSiemens) was the same as EC. 2930. 2.930ec.
I also thought 1500ppM (NaCI) was ppm @ .5.

So, you can see where the BL isn't jiving with those numbers. While the cheapo does.

I always figured 1500 ppm is 1500 ppm. If my meter is .5 scale then it will read 750. My new Hanna meter seems to read actual ppm's. I can't read the chinese instructions but it is what it is. I put in 1300 calibration solution and it reads 1300.

I’ve got the monitor. If it’s a little dirty it can read off a lot in my experience. I just use the little cleaning kit they sell once a week.

It’s not my only meter, it’s in the res all the time and checks true against my other meter when it’s clean.

I think your BL is off.

I'm so confused. I am going to order a different reference solution so I can make better sense of this.

I think my issue might be the temperature of the solution. I just noticed that the bottle says @25c. Well my solution is at 19c. hmmm

**edit** naw. I converted it to compensate for the temp and its still way off. Next time I go to town i'll stop by the hydro shop.

On the back of bl’s bottles they have what it should be for a bunch of different temps. If your truncheon is off it’ll be one of very few I’ve heard of.

Well I ordered BL solution and it seems the meter is waaaaay off. Just gonna trash it and buy another brand. Fuck BL!!! If you can't reply to a customers email in a few days, you're not the kinda company that deserves my money.

Thanks for everyone's input and opinions.
