Day 50 of flower since the flip. Running DWC, 600w HPS 12/12, 48% humidity. Room avgs 82-84 degrees. Water 71 degrees. PH 6.0 and PPMs under 1000. AN 3part Jungle Juice, kool bloom liquid and bud candy. I think something is eating the tops off the flowers. Each lights on more tops (just the tops) of the flowers are gone. I can find no signs of critters during lights on. No dead bugs on the floor either. I did have what I think was a fugus gnat problem but cured it with azamax and no pest strips. Nothing flying around in weeks. Checked the net pots and did water changes to make sure nutes solution was right because leaves showing signs of stress. 6 more flower tops missing at lights on. What could be doing this? Anyone had this experience? All suggestions welcomed.

Damn, second post in a row with same type of issue, somewhat. I would lower that PPM, doesn't look like bug problem to me, more like nute burn/ nute lock up.

I'm with Sheldon on this one. Lower your ppm's and watch the new growth for the necrosis. How steady does your ph stay?

PH kept at 6.0. it can go up to as high as 6.2 and as low as 5.6 between checks. Will lower PPM to 700 and see what happens. Pictures are not as clear as would like. Will try to get better pics. I am not finding the tops of buds on the floor either. They are gone/missing!!!. Its like something chopped the very top of each flower off. At my wits ends with this one and ready to give up on growing. It would be cheaper and faster for me to find medicine the old way if this keeps up.

Get some close up shots if you can. I would like to see the damage. Also if you can, don't use the flash, get something else for light.

first 3 pics show tops of buds missing and 4th pic shows bud in tact. Just adjusted PPM down from 1000 to 790 range. (I thought up to 1200 was ok???) Checked ph which had dropped to 5.6. Ph'd back up to 6.0. Lifted 600w HPS from 32 inches to 40 inches from canopy. With 3 wks from chop I guess its a wait and see. Should I try to put some type of netting over the canopy? This is really weird since my girls look good til week 4 of flower then this happens as soon as the buds show some amber. Should I drop the bud candy??? Open to any suggestions. Thanks RUI. 20130923_152328.jpg20130923_152339.jpg20130923_152400.jpg20130923_152425.jpg

I have no ideal what is chewing on your plants. Better pics would help yes. Also it looks like the leave tips on some have been cut. I do know with my setup if Ph drops i have to do a water change. My ph stays pretty much constant with a slight rise through out the week. As soon as it starts to drop I change water.

Pic 1 shows really well how the tops have been taken off the bud. You can see the stems core. I just did a water change 2 days ago, so its not odd that I'd need to redial in ph. I did prune off dead and dying leaves at that time. hence the leaf cuts. I was thinking a nitrogen deficiency til the forum suggested it might be over feeding causing the leaves to yellow. I am concerned with that also but more so on what is eating the tops off the buds. Again, I have no issues until the buds begin to mature around week 4. Hoping someone will have had this happen before and can guide me. I'm thinking mosquito netting???? What PPM is average in flower stage? thanks again.View attachment 2833176

I do not have pets and the closet stays locked. Unless there is a mouse about that I'm not aware of. Arrggghh. At any rate do you think she will still swell with the tops missing??? Just 3 more weeks to go!

If u live in SoCal it may be
my Doberman, from time to time i see him throw up a good chunk of plant material from the couple I got in the patio, they've been "vegging" for 3 months now thanks to my good dogs appetite. That doesn't look like bugs, I'd definitely say nute burn or deficiency bcs of way off ph.?!?

So are you saying it is possible that the tops of the flowers could disintegrate off due to nute burn or a deficiency? Not that I doubt you since I'm still a newb. The plant was fine until after week 4 of flower. Last water change was 20 micro, 10 grow and 32 ml bloom which is half strength of what the instructions said to 4 gallons water. I dunno...just would like to get back on track if at all able. Open to all suggestions. Thanks everyone.

I don't know whats eating your buds, but I think your nute-lock problem is actually related to using the no pest strip in close proximity to your plants. my buddy put one in his stealth grow and within a week half the plants were dead. At first it looked like nute burn, and then nute lock and then BAM dead. He was able to rescue 2 big ones by removing the no pest strip, washing the walls, ceiling, and floor, and flushing, and spraying the plants with water. I hope this isn't whats going on with you... good luck!

are u sure your not sleep walking and sampling a little?bongsmilie It really does look like someone or something is sampling the buds, not much else that would cause it to look that way
