HELP! What is going on with these plants?

Hi All,
I have 5 plants growing, 4 weeks in, mainlining this round (my first time). 3 of my plants are about a week ahead, so those were topped about 4 days ago. I think they got stressed, because 2 of them (both Afghan Kush) are having issues. The other 3 (including one that was topped) look fine. No leaf issues and watering with the same reservoir - ph in and out is right around 6.1. I'm growing in coco, with Botanicare nutes. I've charged Canna Coco prior to transplant with cal/mag, and have been using cal/mag every watering.

I mistakenly left the lights too bright for one day after I topped, and then woke up to this. Based on photos, it looks like PH issues, but I tested and retested ph of res and it's 6.1. Temp and humidity are spot on at 75 degrees and 65% humidity. Any ideas? Could it be light burn? Stress?? Or does Afghan Kush require more of some nutrient??

Last photo is of my GDP which I haven't topped yet - looking nice and green, no leaf issues. I'm stumped!!

Thanks :D

I have seen too much cal/mag lock out iron uptake. But that first pic looks very intense. I have also seen some pants mimic deficiencies with light stress.

My thoughts was that it was light stress on top of the stress they endured by chopping their heads off to mainline. My 2 plants that haven't been topped yet look great, no leaf issues.

BTW, those leaves are coming off anyway in just a few days to complete mainline - I just left on the fan leaves to gather some light while the nodes are growing.

I have some similar markings from light burn. What lights and how close were they? They resemble the second pic not the first

It's an Electric Sky LED - and it was definitely too bright and too close for these young plants, especially since I had just chopped their heads the night before.

I've never actually seen light bleaching... until now. Nothing you can do about it now. If you don't like it, let the plant grow, then pull the leaves off.
You shouldn't top a plant that's so small.

It wasn't that small - they were already at 6 nodes, and I'm mainlining (are you familiar??)
Leaves are coming off anyway. Just kept them on to help gather light before I top again.

not sure if thats an issue but from reading people suggest 6.5 ph for cal mag uptake, could be lock out
Yep, I'm familiar - did a full grow earlier this year in coco. It's not lockout - I've been varying my between 5.8 and 6.3 and my other plants look healthy as you can see :) Thanks anyway

I'm with @polishpollack, light bleaching.
Assuming that some strains may be more susceptible than others.
Mainlining would be considered a pretty stressful form of training.
You may think about letting them recover a bit before continuing that process.
(but depending where you are in that process, you may need to let them grow out before you continue anyway)
Good Luck with your grow,
WillieP

Yeah, I think I've chalked it up to the stress, and maybe this genetic is just more sensitive. At this point, they now need to grow out 4 nodes on the new branches before I top again. Here they are with their heads chopped off, but before I blasted them with the light. The bleaching literally happened overnight - OOPS :wall:

Yeah, you got this, lesson learned. Moving on.
Those are cool containers.

I said "hard" not "impossible". I know how to grow in coco - thanks anyway

That coco looks pretty wet. You don't have to water daily until runoff with small plants. You get better root growth early on by just keeping the coco damp. I grow in coco as well and with young plants I don't water everyday if the coco is still wet. And with bigger plants I'm using blumats so no runoff. The coco just stays damp. I have been doing a bunch of other projects and haven't done a high yield grow for awhile but this is an older grow with blumats, no runoff, just damp coco.

The coco in the photos was wet, as I had just watered them that day. I don't water until runoff at this point, as there are not enough roots poking thru the nets. And right now I'm watering only every 2-3 days. BTW, thank you for sharing that beautiful photo - it looks like it was an AMAZING grow o_O

What nutes do you like with coco? Any other "tricks"??

I use a dry nutrient similar to Jacks or Masterblend. Nothing fancy but works. No need for expensive cannabis nutrients when other inexpensive products perform as well or better. The key is to feed a balanced nutrient and not overfeed. Bottles of additives are not needed. Regular fertilizer applied properly works as good as a dozen bottles with fancy labels.
