yeah it needs real soil...real nutrients...real drainage...your root system is not getting oxygen and its not getting any nutrients...so with a combination of the PH of the soil probably being all wonky, and no added perlite for drainage...yer not going to be able to grow anything in that :)

I use MG perlite from home depot...it doesn't really have much for nutrients...i think its like a dusting on it or something...

I am using MG Organic Garden Soil(does not contain time release nutes...just regular organic nutes) + perlite at about a 4:1 ratio of soil:perlite. I've noticed with this combination in 5 gallon buckets it drains too much and doesn't retain moisture well...so I'm having to water at LEAST every 2 days, if not every day at times...so I think for this soil+perlite combo I'll have to do a 6:1 ratio next time. I've used other generic potting soils as well...just stay away from "top soil" unless you have a full set of nutrients including micro/macro nutrients as topsoil doesn't have shit in it for nutes...

The issue with people and miracle grow is the amount of people who have burned their plants from the time released nutes...water it too much it releases all the nutes and BAM...burned plant :)

yeah im using organic potting mix/the organic garden soil just with no perlite......

do you think i could repot and add a little perlite.....

we are using the same medium though....and yes i think i have over watered.....

so should i let it dry out for a week and see what happens.

i really dont want to start over right now.

You can slide the plant out of the container...gently remove the outer layer of soil that doesn't have roots in it...mix perlite up into the soil and replant it back in the pot. You also could just move it to its final container size as well instead of having to repot again :)

In ok soil you don't need to give any nutes for the first month at least...just water...the grow with the cat pans was back in '09 in a server computer case with LR#2...battled heat issues all the way through...my last grow with 300watts of HPS was MUCH better...and this time with a 400watt HPS its even better(I don't have a journal going for my current grow)

I wouldn't use your current situation of soil only without perite...

But, if you have no other option severely reduce the amount of water you are putting into it...don't give it so much its draining out the bottom...make sure you do not have a drip tray installed as that will just leave the medium wet for much longer...

I'd still take the plant out of the pot, take the soil off the outside of the root ball, mix perlite up in the soil and repot...give it one good watering afterward and lift the pot to see how heavy it is...and just check it every day to see how heavy it is. You'll be able to feel when shes bone dry...also do not use clear plastic cups as the light penetrating them causes the roots to stop :)
