help! what would be the best way?

My boyfriend smokes about a dub a day and its really starting to cut into our funds for the apt.

I really want to so this for him so that we can get better quality stuff than some damn "street strange" bud we get from these aketchies.

About how many plants would to need to support his smoking?

I live in a apartment so space is limited. I was thinking of going with a rubbermaid grow... or use one of the closets.

But my main concern with the closet would be ventilation and id have to run a power extender to get some power in there.

Please help!

Your main concern is an unexpected inspection, a pest control treatment, and ventilation. I wouldn't suggest it. To really answer your question, how long does an ounce last you guys? If you grew 2 plants and were fortunate enough to get 2 zips from each....and look at the timeframe from seed to smoke, that will tell you pretty much what you need to know.

Your best bet would be to start off with a pack of auto seeds get a strain that takes 60 to 70 days they come in packs of 3 to 10

A 12L pot is around 25 to 30cm wide and 30cm tall. Start all 3 seeds in some soil in party cups or something light mix is best and then go from there you`ll find tons of info on all kind`s of ways to grow but if you can`t deal with 3 plants in soil under some cheap cfl lights with a fan on them then you`ll know that growing is not going to be an option for you

Auto`s are great as you don`t even need a timer if you don`t want one but I`d run them at 18/6 start all of the under a 30w cool blue cfl and then add as much light as you can as they get older 50w per plant is a good amount of cfl but you could push it to 100w per plant, also you can start auto`s under "warm" cfl`s you`ll just have to start feeding some bloom feed a bit earlier

This way you only have 3 plants so if something unexpected happens and you need to dump them it should be pretty easy after that you can go in any direction you want

Auto`s in 2 gal pots can yield anything from 1/2 oz to 4oz it depends on so many things get them into 4gal pots and they can give you over 6oz`s no bad for a 60 to 70 day plant

If your new to it I would not expect to get over 1/2 an oz per plant just remember yield will increase as your skills and equipment do but don`t worry see all the plant matter that is not bud you can use to make butter and then use the butter to make brownies and cakes.

Anyway good luck what ever you do, I hate dealing with drug dealers I mean don`t get my wrong I`ve paid a friend for weed before but that`s because I have many friends that grow and smoke but I can`t imagine smoking something I brought from a stranger in the street................

Ok, I don't want the plants to get TOO tall.
May main concern now is just where to keep them. I don't plan on going big at my first try. I just want to gain experience, see how it goes and then upgrade later on.
I'm looking for the lowest start up cost incase it fails.

For the lights, i bought 42 W Bright Light (3500K), and now i'm thinking those werent a good choice.

Yeah def try autoflower 2to3 gallon pots or bags would be better your bulbs are ok for flowering ( low k ) a couple of high k mixed in get them close also auto does'nt need alot of nutes if you start with a high quality soil you can get a computor fan on ebay for 10 bucks good luck!

How tall would these get?
I was thinking more feminized seeds so i could just force them to flower when they got to the height i needed them to be?

Depend`s on the strain a short auto is 20 to 30cm a mid hight is 30 to 60cm some bigger ones can hit over 1m and some auto`s with ton`s of sativa can hit over 1.3M so not very high plus you can always top them

A 42w 3500k cfl ? Start say 3 plants under it and in 4 weeks add another cfl around the same power in 2700k if you use 2gal pots you should be able to finish 3 smallish plants with just under 100w of cfl but personally I`d aim more for the 150 to 200w mark

You`ll want a light soil you may even want to add extra perlite, bio bizz root juice, bio grow and bio bloom are all good products and are fully organic and easy to use

You don`t need anything else for autos you could get a little bottle to mist them when there young but that`s it with a low power cfl grow you should be fine for cal/mag I would invest in some kind of ph tester mind.

Not to sound like your dad here, but the most important detail I'm seeing here is that your bf might be putting weed ahead of a roof over your heads. That might be something to consider for your future plans. I'm not saying he's a bad dude. I don't know either one of you, so please don't take it as a judgement on my part. I'm just asking you to consider if you might end up living paycheck to paycheck to support a weed habit that your finances and future plans can't cover or, more importantly right now, if you really want to accept the risks accociated with growing weed if you aren't medical. It's just my opinion, of course, but growing in an apartment hightens the risks involved, by a ways. Having people that close to you is a big wild card that you won't have any control over. Paranoia is part of an illegal grow we all accept here, but I urge you caution, espically because you are inexperienced in growing, especially with what it takes to stay under the radar.

I know I'm being a downer here, but I'm sure I'm not the only person here who thinks you should really be considering these things before you decide. I know I would want someone to tell my daughter these things if she were you. I have your best interest at heart here.
