help with autoflowering seedling

1.Are you growing from seed or clones?
From seed, “Buddha seeds autoflower assorted mix”. It could be White Dwarf, Red Dwarf, Syrup, Deimos or an experimental hybrid. All autoflowering, finishing between 55 and 85 days.

2. How old are your plants?
10 days from sprouting from soil, about 13 since germinated.

3. How tall are your plants?
A bit more than 1 inch.

4. What size containers are they planted in?
I planted directly in a 3.5 gallon container.

5. What is your soil mix?
30% compost, 20% earthworm humus, 15% peat moss, 20% perlite, 15% vermiculite. Bought from a growshop.

6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?
Tap water. I just watered once with a syringe (15 ml), as the soil has some humidity which I can still feel in the first 2 inches with my finger.

7. What is the pH of your water?
Between 6.0 and 6.5, measured with pH paper.

8. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined?
From sunrise till midday the plant receives direct sun, then indirect bright light till 5 pm, and then I turn on a 26 watt 6500K CFL till the next sunrise, so I´m on 24/0.

11.How close are your lights to the plants? About 1 to 2 inches, watching for a nice temperature (max 85F).

12.What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
Between high 50´s and 85F at most, and about 50% humidity (though it has came down to 30% a few times)

14.What is the pH of the soil?
Didn´t measure it, but bag says 6.5

15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?
No.

16. How much experience do you have growing?
2 or 3 grows, so not much. First time with autoflower.

So I´m kind of concerned because this plant has already 10 days and isn´t growing as fast as others I had (regular bag seeds, not autoflowering), plus I see some purple in the leaves as you can see in the pictures. I contacted Buddha to ask whether it could be the strain, but they told me that it wasn´t likely. They suggested me it could be a low temperature problem, but I´m not sure as it never gets colder than 55F. So I have 2 questions:

  1. The apparent small size of this plant (the distance between the tips of the first true leaves is about 1 inch) could it be due to the fact that it´s an autoflowering strain? Do autoflowering strains grow slower than not autoflowering in general?
  2. What could be the reason for those purple stains?
Thank you very much!!!

That seedling looks good to me. They come in all sizes, and 1" across is definitely a reasonable size. Temp wise, 55 degrees is pretty chilly for indoor cannabis. I don't think it's going to cause you any problems right away, but it certainly could be causing that purple coloring and slower growth. I've had some seedlings look like that around 10 days, but they've all ended up exploding with healthy growth soon after.

If you can keep the temp above above 65 degrees, they'll appreciate it. This can be done by simply lowering your light a little, or just running it 24 hours a day if that 55 degrees is happening while the light is off.

they like a humid area for first month,70 or so. i also found that mine liked temps in the 70's. i did some auto bubblisious and they started a little slow but not slow as yours. im a novice for sure but have read alot of info and i would raise the humidity and watch the temps. i stunted mine by letting temp get to high but they are fine now and right at harvest

pleased with my first grow.IMG_0409.jpg

hey buddy

1 it sounds like the temps in the root zone might be to cool and slowing grows (soil likes 78 77 degrees)

2 the amount of water is off at 13 days u should be giving the soil atleast 2 cups of water every 36 48 hours

3 seedlings and sprouts can take in feeding stuff just a weaker lvl then what u would feed a bigger plant

4 u said they are getting direct sunlight have u checked the info about the glass in the house (depending on who makes the windows some forms of lightwaves are blocked out to keep cooling cost lower in the summer time )

You really think that seedling is going to drink 2 cups of water every 36 hours? Where'd you pull that number from? Sounds like a sure-fire way to kill a seedling...

from every grow i have done

i done auto plants since i started .........2 cups of water is only 8 fluid oz (half a water bottle) .............i run t5s and HID........my hid lights at 5 weeks they get 32 oz of water every 24 hours

i pulled 4 oz off trans siberian and 4 oz off bio diesel mass last grow

week one 1 cup
week two 2 cups
week three 3 cups to 3 and half
week four they move to 18 oz to 24 oz

those are in 3 gallon air bags

the 7 gallon air bag with the bio diesel was getting ahalf gallon every 24 hours

*One cup is 8 oz...

*Watering volume depends on on soil volume, soil type, ventilation, growth rate, vigor, etc, etc, etc... It is not determined by how many weeks a plant has been under HID lighting.

Don't give people advice unless you know what your talking about. The field capacity of a soil (saturated water content after draining) does not triple as the plant grows, it stays roughly the same. Therefore, a given pot size will take the same amount of water to saturate regardless of how many weeks it's been under HID lighting.

if my advice did something bad to someone plant they can prove it and i will give them the money to replace it

i back everything i tell ppl up .............i learned from doing i guess the cup i been using is wrong i filled poured in it goes to 4 fluid oz mark on the side of the bottle

that watering has worked for me and if u look back tho my posting i repeated that to other ppl and i have not yet had one person bitch at me

unlike some of the ppl here i am not out to mess with ppl and get my jollies becuase i know i made u kill your plants .........every time i answer or think about someone else trouble with growing i learn something new and i share it with ppl

my proof is i am still living and eating ( i do this to make money) 3 grows of autos little more then 3000 bucks total and this is after the set up and everything was paided for
pulling almost 100 grams of weed of one plant that grow in 63 days 17%thc ..............that is 1/4 the maximum yeild out of soil hydro i should get near the top limit once i apply the SCRoG and hydro system

If switching to hydroponics is really going to quadruple your yield, something is very wrong with your soil technique... Maybe
it's your one-size-fits-all watering schedule?

This is the same plant at 18 days after breaking through the ground.. the distance between the opposite tips of the biggest leaves in the second node is about 2 inches.. isn´t there any problem? I think it´s growing really slow...
