help with Canna Vega A/B

Hi all. Any one using Canna Vega A/B for veg and Flores A/B for bloom ???
Im having dosing issues got a 60L res and can't work out how many ml per L to get the desired ppm, being 700ppm and upwards, at this stage, that is if the meter I'm using is reading right i have been assured it is.The tap water is coming out at 100ppm (The ppm meter I'm using has a three digit display, no decimal point, I'm meant to multiply the result by 10 so water is 010 being 100ppm) I've put in 175ml of Vega A and B result = 074 = 740ppm I think ,now thats 2.5ml per L and the bottle says not to go above 4ml per L so I'm confused, is wot I'm doing/ thinking right. If I'm meant to raise my ppm during veg up to about 1500ppm before triggering and then switch to Flores A and B and have no idea about ppm then but lets start here first any help would be appreciated

You need to monitor your res every 24 hours for increases or decreases on ppm.

For example.

You set your res at 700ppm today with pH 5.8.

After 24 hours of use your res now reads
550ppm and pH 6.4.

What does this say to you?

To me it says your plants are feeding well and nute strength can be increased.

Same res after 24 hours is now reading 900ppm and pH 5.1. What does this tell you?

Your plants aren't able to uptake the nutes you're supplying. Therefore your nute mix is too strong and needs to weakened with water.

Any ppm jumps over 100ppm can be corrected from the initial starting ppm.

Base your start at 700ppm.
Increase more than 100ppm in 24 hours then back off 100ppm down to 600ppm.

Start 700ppm after 24hours has decreased by more than 100ppm then increase your res strength to 800ppm.

Monitor and adjust if necessary every 24 hours.

You're trying to find the sweetspot. Whereby nute and water are used at equal rates leaving your res at the same ppm it was set at.

This sweet spot changes as time goes on and as the plants develop.


Personally I hated using the FloresA/B the 4-4-11 NPK ratio is so lacking in N its not even funny.

If you want to switch to the FLORES when the time comes I suggest you keep the VEGA going for 2 weeks into 12/12 then cut the VEGA in half and make the other half up with FLORES.

However though you could run the VEGA 6-3-8 from start to finish with great results.

Which brand of canna?

I've used COCO A/B, VEGA A/B, FLORES A/B,

I found VEGA A/B with its 6-3-8 NPK profile worked a lot better from start to finish than when switching to the FLORES.

When I used to switch to FLORES the plants would almost immediately start to yellow.

Now I'm back with coco as medium and coco nutes as my nute of choice and the only thing that mine need in addition during a grow is more Ca and Mg during flower.



Which brand of canna are you using?

They make mono nutrients and trace mixes because not all plants require the same nutrients at the same time.

For example if you hit plants hard with a PK booster then it helps to elevate levels of Ca and Mg during the boosters use.

I'm using canna classic rhizotonic canazyme have a problem with one plant got rust spots on leaves and drooping sometimes

Looks a lot like an issue with either Ca or Mg.

Yeah I've dosed with cal mag . they got a lot better for a week and is now coming back

Sounds like there isn't enough Ca or Mg in your base nute or your source water is very soft.


What ppm or EC does your water test at before nutes are added?

Usually 90 to 100 ppm I have cal and mag for my reef tank will that work lol

Unsure to be honest as that's more to do with coral etc isn't it?

from all bio bizz soild all mix is best from plants, clones, standart grow and hydroponic

i have a new meter now so i get ppm ec cf the meter was part of the problem too

so basically don't change to flores or do it slowly, i.e. 1/2 and 1/2 at first.
I think i sorta got a sweet spot for my ppm 700-840 and ec 1.0- 1.2. things seem to be ok for now, but i would still like to know approx how many ml per L of a/b you but into as a start up mix approx.

The rhizotonic does definitely work for root growth not sure about zyme . Since I added that zyme is when shit went down hill looking OK today
