Help with coco pot size and automated dtw

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for the input and advice. I'm finishing up my first coco run in a new room. I'm running 4 plants per 1000 watt in 7 gallon smart pots. It's working right now, but what a pain in the ass hand watering and draining the saucers is. Anyways for the next round I'm going to build DTW tables and set up drip lines. I like the idea of watering twice a day so was thinking 3 gallon smart pots. You guys think 3 gal pots will provide enough root space as well as providing a sturdy enough base to hold half elbow plants with out trellis'? Also how's everyone's experiences with 2 gpd drip lines? That seems to be the norm at the hydro shop, but I was looking at the contractor landscape place and found sprayers that can adjust from 5-20 gph. I was thinking these would clog much less.

when I was researching, many use the 3gal smart pots,
but I like those plastic Hydrofarm square pots.... with the extra side holes, they are perfect for coco

Thanks for the advise Johnny, but I'm set on cloth pots to eliminate the gnats access to the media and roots with the combination of top dressing with gnat nix. I've got gnats buzzing around all over my town and sick of them in my room.

DTW or recirculating system is a good first start, but I'm a fan of knowing what's in my cubes to ensure my EC is balanced and I'm flushing salts out. Are you married to pots and coco? I'm a fan of rock wool myself. I don't know if the drip is the norm, but certainly direct feed lines. In a space where you main hose has a lot of length to cover, I've found doubling up on the direct feed tubes for the plants furtherest from the resi helps to mitigate against clogs. As well, putting a mesh in front of the intake prevents the pump from taking in foreign bodies you might not see in opaque water.
