help with high low hangers

I just got my high low hangers from htg.supply and can not figure out how to keep them from retracting. I can make them tight to where you can not pull the tension down with weight but I can't seem to keep them from going back up lol. The directions that came with them are worthless and don't even mention keeping or lowering them :cuss::wall:

The only thing that keeps them from contracting is the weight of your light.
Wow then my light is to lite lol. I can't seem to make them go lower with just the weight of the reflector and bulb. These things are more trouble then the chains lol.

Those cheap things are the worst! I have tried them but prefer the chains. I am still trying to figure out how to motorize the lights but haven't come up with it yet. I started a post a while back asking how everyone hung there light and if there was a better way. All the replies said they use chains. Good luck with those hangers I found the range to limiting to be worthwhile.

Well your lucky you got instructions with yours cuz mine didn't come with anything except the hangers and I think the high low hangers suck. Just not worth the money.

i just got some off craigs list. they work for my t5. it is the weight of the light. you screw the handle to how low you want it to hang;)

Forget chains and forget high low hangers and buy a few cheap pulleys and attach one to the ceiling above each light and run a line to it and have a place to tie it off and just raise and lower them like roll up shades or Roman shades.

It is so simple and easy but so few people ever seem to think about it. Maybe their minds are to highly trained to be able to be able to comprehend something so utterly simple.

got some coming in the mail soon, good thing they were free..

any luck with more weight?
I have the htg.supply econo reflector.

Yeah I just had to add more weight to the side of the reflector that doesn't have the light fixture on it.

I still feel that they are cheap and shitty would perfer chains or a pulley system like brick was mentioning (which is how I expected the hi lows to work) but they were free...
