Help with lighting 4x4x7 tent

I always forget about the CMH, that would be a good option as well. I saw them running one in my local grow shop, in a 2x2 and it didnt get very hot at all in there, although their door was open.

The thing about running 2 plants as opposed to 4 or 6 (I like doing 3 rows of 2 for a total of 6) is you're going to need to veg it a hell of a lot longer. So consider that. You could throw 6 plants in there, veg a month, flip to flower. But if you want to stretch two out of it, then you're gonna have to run that 18/6 or whatever you choose for an extra month or so. You're going to spend a lot more than you realize trying to scrog 1 or 2 plants across a 4x4.

Like I said before, you CAN use any light you find. Those blurple LED's you found are just not very high quality as far as the spectrum and power they put out.

Besides, you can always sell off old equipment/start up a 2nd tent when you upgrade your light. You can get the ballast, hood, and bulb for like 150. I would of gone with the 6'' Ipower setup because most of the 600w hoods are 6-8 inches. but you can always buy adaptors too.

My take- indoor grows try to replicate natural conditions the plant evolve with. Getting adequate light intensity is the number 1 problem all of us face-HID like mh or hps has been the go to for decades and it does produce results as well as thermal management challenges.
I like to work backwards-see how much of a footprint I need to grow the plants and plan lighting based on that area. 50w/sqft on HID is normal and at least 30w/sq ft of efficient leds.

It all depends all on budget really. The two I'd go with is 1440 maxsisun 330$ shipped 600 watts at the wall. Or the hlg 600, 680$, 600 watts at the wall. It's one of the best light avil atm.

Ok so plan is. 315 cmh light. 6” exhaust fan 420 cfm, 6” carbon filter inside tent attached to exhaust fan.

Do I need intake fan? How do I silence fan on low? Would a scrubber silence it a bit?

Seedsupreme here I come
No actually multiple fans slow each other down. You're best getting one large fan 8"+. You can build a muffler for fans with plywood, bungee cords and insulation. I've never felt the need to go that far myself. Just some bungee cords to cut down vibration and mount the fan inside the tent and filter outside.

SO my setup right now is

4x4x7 vivosun tent
315w CMH hydrocrunch light and ballast kit
6" 420cfm inline fan with 6" carbon scrubber (ipower scrubber)
5 gal grow bags

Fox Farm OCean Forest mixed with 25% FOx Farms Happy Frog (75/25 mix)
Im going to get the fox farms trio kit for nutes, but right now have the Hydro Organics Earth Juice Bloom.

I'm not looking to do "just good enough" thats why I said I'll stick to 2 plants. I want to make those as best as possible. I dont care about an extra month of Veg if I have a good quality for myself. Does my setup seem decent? I believe I Want to keep the temps to mid 70s or lower 70s and RH always under 50. Might have to run a dehumidifier in the room (not the tent) so its not sucking in humid air thru passive vents right? Im going to do a journal too because no one seems to log much about a 4x4 tent CMH grow with pure soil no hydro.

strains I picked are:

purple haze
sour bubbly (mephisto)
sour melon
blue medi kush
blueberry bliss
berry bomb
black ghost og
and Deep Blue C F2 (mephisto)

For foxfarm def get cal-mag plus (plus is with added iron) and sulfur

dont sound half bad! For what its worth I flower in soil in a 4x4, feel free to check out my journal and comment. The soil sounds fine, although I wouldnt get too concerned with a precise mix like that. I am still switching my soils and amendments up every grow searching for one I like best. What I'm trying to say is, some shit works different for everybody, and while that mix may of been killer for somebody, you're running different strains in a different environment with different experience, so your results could vary wildly. You can dial this in in your upcoming grows.

Glad to hear about the not wanting to just good enough. I started with 2 plants, one was male, so flowered one out, got a quarter lb off of her. Second grow was 2 autos, yeilded another quarter lb, decided autos are.....not fun for me. After that my setup just blew up and now I have way too many plants in too many tents. growing pot is 100x more addictive than the stuff itself.

Lemme reccomend the Mega Crop to you. I just started using it, so far I really like it. good results, easy, and cheap. started on GH trio, then to Nectar, which I love, but is just too much mixing and money. Just one component into water.

Damn, I'm getting a few autos. What was it that you didn't like about them? Was it because your two plants gave you the yield of 1 plant previously? I liked the idea of being able to keep the light on for 16 hours versus the 12/12 cycle and letting them swell up during the extra hours of light. That was just an idea I had but maybe it doesnt work like that.

is this in addition to the fox farm trio? Im new with nutes to be honest and am still doing some research. I honestly bought that earth juice for bell peppers outside and double use for this project indoors :)

well, indirectly, yes. That whole plan of "veg 2 plants a bit longer to fill a scrog" totally goes to shit with autos, cause, they're done vegging when they're done. If you're planning on popping them, i'd do 4 of them in there, trim a lot of the lower junk off, and scrog it as evenly as you can.

I just liked the control I have over photos (regs especially) more than auto's. 12/12 is good because it cuts your power bill down, and research im reading is telling me that 12 hours might not even be necessary, and they can do just fine with even less. When I do auto's though, I do 24/0 or 20/4. I did 24/0 for most of their life and they did pretty good. I just like deciding when to flower my plants.

as far as for the seeds you bought (i dont think i saw if you said that you chose them, or if you had actually purchased them yet) you seem to have a lot of fruit and berry stuff. I like it too, but its nice to have variety. so if you have those, I'd reccomend picking two that are opposites. or, maybe one thats more sativa leaning and one thats more indica. That way you have a sort of daytime and a nighttime smoke.

any recommendations? havent ordered yet was about to.

i had to get purple haze.. for some reason that strain makes me feel different. ive been to colorado and tried purple haze and it gave me same effect. Ive tried tons of strains in my life and thats the only one that does whatever it does to me. Its amazing. I wonder why that is. It would be like eating apples your whole life then you try an orange you know? haha. totally different stone and overall feeling. its special to me

Do you know if its from the same breeder that you tried? What you had then and what you grow could be wildly different. My recommendation is just get a couple. By the time those have flowered, dried, cured, and you're smoking it, you might want something entirely differently than the stock you first bought. Thats months from now, you'll have learned so much in that time. Good shits always gonna be around, dont worry about jumping on hype trains. Also heads up a haze strain is gonna take like 12+ weeks to flower as well. Hazes take forever. also ignore breeder times for the most part. especially with the cheaper fem seeds.

Sounds good! Don’t sweat much else for now, you have all you need to get started! Nice setup to start. Play with HPS someday, though.

And stay away from autos, they are a racket and an abomination. You’ll end up with some as freebies, probably, run them, but don’t support the weird seed co. Autoflower racket by buying them.
@reallybigjesusfreak is giving you pretty good advice, I think. Megacrop is amazing stuff. I started with the FoxFarm trio, it works fine. I use powdered fertilizers and make my own stock solutions now, and I would never go back to expensive water bottles.

Cool temps like you describe are great, but many of these plants’ ancestors grew in warm or highly variable climates, many strains don’t mind a little heat. Bruce Banner 3 kicked ass in hot temps, for me. Don’t let your thinking get too narrow about what is possible.
