Help With Lighting Setup

From what i can see in alot of grow threads people are using alot of smaller (23w) bulbs as opposed to using fewer larger (42w) bulbs. Would two 23 watt bulbs not produce more heat than one 42 watt bulb? Heat seems to be a major issue when using CFL's as they are primarily used in smaller spaces where HID lighting is not practical. Trying to figure out the best lighting setup for my space. My space is currently 28" wide and 19" deep with a height of just 23". I may extend the height and width but only have about 3" either way. Was thinking of doing either Blue Mystic(fem) from Nirvana or California Hashplant(fem) from Dinafem with a SCROG setup to keep them short. Any input is welcome.

i have 4 26w bulbs running and get to 80F in grow room and my bedroom temp is 75F. So when turn my AC on to 72, growroom is 77F. My fan help blowing on the bulbs it elimates like 10F. My temp goes up 1-2F for every 26Watt Bulb. So 10 CFL will be like 89F in Growroom and Bedroom at 72F. Just dont let temp go above 95F.

As for y ppl use smaller lights then bigger is cause instead of plant like 2x42watt bulbs that only cover so much... its better to have smaller bulbs that cover more area. Its not about watts but about coverage as CFL can penatrate much so you have to be creative and span the lights around to bring lights to dark spots of the plant

i need to add more lights 4 aint doing it no more they are growing to slow it seems but ppl say its growing fast. I think it seems small to me cause i have the lights so close the nodes are so tight.... i think am going to move my lights up more to get a little stretch so i can tie it down more. Nodes are so tight i cant even put a string around it with out constricting the node sights.

keep them nodes tight man... it will stretch in flower... and tight nodes = dense nuggets... do you want airy nuggets?

Was wondering if anyone can answer this question: will 2-23w 6500k bulbs be hotter than 1-42w 6500k bulb? This is in regard to the top lighting. Plan on using 23's for side lighting.

when use my heat gun to measure 1 cfl it gives me a 74F heat signature. Now two of them gave me right now in a room of 73F its giving me 76F 1/2 an inch from the light. So it depands but i would say 1 42w will produce more heat or about same as 2 26W lights.. dont have 23w.

it also depands if your grow room is an open room or a closet ,, has the heat will built more in closed space(closet even with exhaust) then open.

23-26w will give you the best Lumens/Watts & Heat/Area.

Yea i guess it depends on the size of the space and air movement/ventilation. What about reflective material? Was thinking of going with autos now. 8-23w bulbs. Enough?
