help with lights

Theres so many diffrent ways of growing pot and the right lights to use. i dont know what to do!lol. I came by a website that said i could grow 15 or less plants off a 250hps and a 250 mh watt light running at the sametime, not only did they say if worked but that its the best set up. and others said i need a 600 or 1000 watt.
I am growing ina 5x6 ish with 8ft sealings closet. I was told to start with soil and i will, looking to do 6-8plants. If the above system is not what i need plz let me know. just looking to get started.

you can grow 6-8 plants with two 250w lamps. rotate the plants every day or two so they get the benefit of each lamp

i would only veg to about 20 inches or so, because the light penetration won't be great with two overhead lamps, so you don't want the plants to get too tall

bushy is good, tall not so good

I got 10 plants in the dirt... i'm using a 250 watt HPS and a 400 watt MH with fluorescents as side lighting in a 4x4x8 grow tent... seems to be working fairly well but i'm nervous about my yeild!! i'm thinking about stepping up my game to a 1000 watt hps to ensure a better yeild!! I do regret starting with smaller wattage.. if i had my time back I would of went big right away!!! GO BIG OR GO HOME!!! good luck and get on the grow!!

Go with two 600 watt HPS systems, if you want to do it right. Two 1000's would be even be better, if you really want to have the best of the best. :wink:

Actually, one 600 and a light mover would be the cheapest way to have a nice setup. Two 400's wouldn't be bad to cover the 6' length, but would only cover 4' of the width.

two 400watts would b PERFECT for u i think 2 600watts might make it to hot in ur closet so be safe and go with two 400's..get a 400w hps and a 400w mh

I read that 600 is the least efficient in wattage and other things ,(not every thing I read is holy) anyway go big and get it dimmable.

You have it backwards, man. The 600's are the most efficient of all the HPS/MH systems. :)

i dont know whatever ur local hydroponic store caries..i went for the cheapest shit i could find and it works great..i got the cheapest everything except i got the best BULB they had and thats the most important thing just make sure u get a good bulb...go to ur local hydroponic store and ask the guy about their lights they'll help u more than i can but two 400w would b perfect for ur closet grow 4sure two hps 400w or one 400w hps and one 400w mh whatever u wanna roll with

on average what does the hps 1000w cost.....and the hp 1000w roughly i know prices vary from town to town, and do they put off enough heat to need a big ventalation system....

it all depends on what you want/need and the purpose of ur grow

two 400watts would keep ur temp down and spread the light better then just one 1000watt..ur probably ganna have heat issues with two 600's or one 1000w so trust me on this n go with the two 400watts
