Help with my CFL setup please !!!

i have just bought a 125w dual spectrum 6u CFL, i am only looking to grow 1 or maybe 2 plants at a time and want to keep them small. i have no more money to spend and need some suggestions on what to grow my plants in i have no cupboard space and cant afford a tent. would a large cardboard box be ok (3ft high 2ft wide) lined with aluminium foil and the CFL over 1 or 2 plants, i am also considering LSTing to help with the space issues.
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated and i will get pics up when my setup is ready.

cardboard and electrical wires is a no no and aluminum foil will just be a hassel and it will also create hot spots. Get some wood and paint it white making sure you have vent holes. Lst and scrog would be a good idea. You could very well use the box but would just have to watch it. Good luck

Thanks for the reply Boom i'll try get some wood or find an old cabinet, Also whats "Scrog"? i've never heard of that but then this is my 1st attempt at growing and i have no knowledge except what i read on here.

growing through mesh to keep it all on height Lst and scrog go hand in hand do both

thanks for the info i'll give it a try will hope full have my setup completed by the end of the week and will get some pics up for you all to check out and tell me how to make it better.

also i've been growing seedling on my windowsill for last 9 days and will keep them there till my setup is ready they are about 5 inches tall and just starting 2nd set of leaves , my Q is will they be ok to go under the cfl straight away when ready, after being on the windowsill for 2 weeks?

5 inches is stretched as fuck replant choke the soil up on the stem before it falls over and get a light on it asap

i just re-planted tonight so only about 1 or 2 inches out of soil now. i cant get them under light till later in week as i just ordered Light today and getting delivered on thursday. i only have 2 x 11w cfl bulbs from lamps in the house would they do until thursday? just taking some pics of plants now will post them up in 5 mins

plant it to the leaves the least amount of the stem the better
and just tho them under any cfl for now
any watt but the higher the better
the object is to have it stop stretching asap
and you should be fine

here are some pics of my plants as they are now from growing on my windowsill for 9 days not the best but its my 1st attempt will get them under CFL lights very soon.

the 1st 2 pics are taken 2 days ago the 3rd pic was taken tonight their not looking to good but i hope re-planting them will have helped now and lights later this week.

My lamp just arrived today WOO HOO a 125w dual spectrum CFL its fuking huge i didnt realise it was so big from the pictures i've seen but hopefully it will do a good job and help grow big buds. but im still waiting on reflector so will be tomorrow or thursday before its all set up. will get pics up soon.

here are some up to date pics of my plants. a couple got burnt from the heat with no fans a few weeks ago but they are bouncing back to life well now with the fan on them all day.
i have started LST with 2 plants as u can see in pics they are doing ok but i've noticed the plant on my window ledge is about twice as big as the ones under the light. i am doing 12/12 lighting from seed any suggestions to improve my plant size without to much more cost as im on a tight budget.

any help greatly appreciated and +rep for any advice

That is a huge CFL! You're going to want to put those plants closer to the bulb though. They are going to stretch again if you don't. Keep the leaves about 2-3" from the bulb.

i tried this but the plants start to burn if its any closer the tips of the leaves start going yellow-y brown i've noticed its started growing slightly better in the last week as its been a little further away from the light its now about 4 - 5 inches away from top of plant.

Oh, ok. It looked alot further away than that in the pics. You're probably good to go then. I'm sure that big bulb puts off some major heat for a CFL.

yeah it puts of a bit of heat its a dual spectrum so the blue side is really cool i can touch that side of the bulb after 12hrs on and its still cool but the red side get quite warm. this is my 1st attempt at growing so dont know very much but hoping ive got everything sorted and will get at the very least a few grams from my 3 plants to smoke and try again with my other seeds and do a bit better next time around.
