I use fishbonemeal at 1tbspn per pal, even with high p bat q.
I have been told by some friends that Fish bone meal may smell and might attract animals anyone have experience with fish bone outdoors any critters? Was thinking of switching out the fish bone for a high p guano but will need a bit of nitro too. thanks

We like fish bm vs guanos ourselves but.. You can always try both.. However, another simple solution is urinating the perimeter.. That'll scare this sheet outta any nearby deers, etc. you could show up with a back pack super soaker full of (male) party piss haha. They won't come anywhere near.

Could plant some thistle too, or something spikey, but that'll be beitch later haha.

Only other things I would add if its possible in time, on budget etc, is:
- a chitin source, for immunity, like frass,
- a silicon source, like DE for cooling,
- and a root network amplifier, ie myco fungi
(But after cooking or mellowing as we call it) ..
Boost root mass by 700-1000x and ups pest defence too, especially root eating nematodes, mon.

10 bux each category might be well worth it come harvest time..

Going beyond this might give you power-herb worthy of positive magazine vibes... Beware

If you think the plot will be good for another year, greensand too.. Prevents P and especially K def, also releases dozens of trace elements for 2 years.

And perhaps my biggest priority would be a handful or two of live, slithering wigglers.. They are under rated big time for their exudates, and aeration channels. 50/ cu ft is our goal.

A cup of rice or oatmeal wouldn't hurt, either.. and helps feed a healthy fungal network. Ya mon!

A couple teaspoons of cinnamon or capsaicin (hot pepper seeds etc) per batch would have a lot of pest benefits too...mites, thrips, aphids, and gnats all hate one or the other, interestingly enough..

Best of luck either way, champ!!

Yeah def stay away from smelly stuff for outdoor. I had some coon and deer issues, tried everything, only thing I can recommend is fencing around plants.

I was thinking of just using the fish bone meal and using some wire mesh like a 3x3 piece and using tent pegs to secure it flat to the ground having a small hole for the stem of course. Any other ideas of securing it to the ground? thanks

fish meal smells super strong, fish bone meal not so much, if you use neem meal with it, all you'll smell is the neem.
smelly stuff there.
I live in a redwood forest and haven't had issues with the critters messing with the plants outside.
maybe with fish meal or fish emulsion though.... whew... smelly.
Fish bone isn't that strong smelling though, at least not the three bags I have bought.
It lasts a long ass time too.

ok its fish bone meal so it should be alright it's the down to earth brand and ya I'm hoping the neem will mask the smell of everything else.

I think you'd be fine, I guess it all depends on how hungry your critters are though.
I think the crab meal almost smells stronger than the fish bone.
nothing stronger than fish meal though... wow. Well, no meals anyways, nothing smelled stronger than the squid emulsion I tried once..
yuck

Thought I was done but just tried to order the Neem meal apparently I have been told by the supplier its has been banned in Canada because of Health Canada regulations. Wonder why? Anyway was going to use Cotton seed meal to replace it as its the only thing I can find available has anyone used this kind I worry about pesticides this brand claims to be free of or have little pesticides it in. thanks again
