I just got my new 400 watt hps setup and hooked it up in my box, its about 8 inches from plant, my leaves are now wilting and some are actually crispy. The soil was sry so i watered them. I have 2 fan in the box 1 exhaust...any advice appreciated.

most likely the new hps light is making your temps skyrocket. you have to lower the temps somehow. Do you know the temps when the light is on so we know how much the temp needs to drop. it should be around 85F at the highest. a couple options are getting a cool tube reflector, getting bigger exhaust fans, adding an oscillating or box fan, or even a small ac unit.

no i dont know the temps, i am going to go get an oscillating fan and thermometer now, i will update in a bit, Thanks doc.

If you tie them and pull them down from the top over at a 45 they will grow towards the light in just a few days and that will give you some room from light. If you can not tie to container just move container to one side and tie to a brick.

What lights did you have on them before and how big are they ? The light may be too bright and you'll have to raise the light and then lower it a little each day for the plant to adjust to the new light.

ok i had cfls before. the temp is 100 with the new lights!!! I added an 8 inch oscilating fan and opened the door. I am going to make my closet the new box...

How long has the new light been in the box? You say you just got it, but has been 1 day or 3 days or a couple hours? If the plant is still young things may turn out ok, however you may have burned it to the point it dies. (I hope not) How old and how tall is this plant?

The plant is 4 wks, The biggest and most burnt is about a foot tall, the box was about 3.5 ft tall I set the lights up about 4 hours ago. I took the plant out of the box and converted my closet to a grow area. the temp is at 82 right now.

yea bro 100F is way to hot. 85F should be your max. get some fans in there, maybe an ac unit, or even a cool tube reflector should help.

every one thank you for the help i got the problem fixed buy opining the door when light is on and adding a third fan :)
