Help!

Right, the situation: Unplanned business trip just sprung on me (10 days).
I cannot get anyone to tend to the plants.
They are all indicas under 24 hrs of light.
Cfl 250w
Grow tent
Watering= covered, an absolute beast of an autopot system.

The problem: Light distance. Attaching a mesh could be hard in a grow tent!

My real worry is the light distance. The plants will be unattended for 10 days, but they will still be very small when i go away (6 inches in height max).

Could anyone suggest any solutions to my problem, as starting a fire wouldn't be cool!

Look harder for someone to check on them ... You could put the light way up and let them stretch a little while your away ... glass orbs for watering with a real good water before you leave ... but a real person would be much better

I'm growing a few indica inside under a 125watt CFL. I had to leave for a week around memorial day. I just added some water holding crystals and raised the lights an one or two inches. I normally grow 18/7, but I switched it to 24/0 to slow growth down. They were fine when I came back.

Thanks, that's encouraging! I'm just so scared of the plants growing into the lights. I really just need a 100% safe way to leave them whilst i'm away. They will be in veg the whole time whilst i'm away. Scared if i only raise it two inches or something they might grow into the lights :s

I really have no-one to look after the plants, as the op is maximum stealth :s

250w of CFL's isn't TOO hot, but a good test is to see how close you can get to the light with your finger without getting burned..

If you are that worried, just raise it high and allow the plant to stretch, knowing you may have to re-pot it burying it a few inches down, if it stretches too far.

KEEP IT UNDER 24/0 and make sure it's a reliable outlet and set your timer right ..you don't want those puppies growing up for 10 days..

I'm a newbie but I have learned quite a bit recently..I'd say just measure how much they are growing a day with you there (upwards) and just assume they will stick with that for the next 10 days..


say they are growing 1 inch a day currently (random number), give them 12 inches of light and know you will have to deal with the stretching.

Just move the lights further away, it will hurt your results a bit but you will be safe at least.

transplant them to a new pot, that way they will spend a day or two dealing with the stress from transplanting. Then if you can hang the CFL bulbs, hang one on each side a couple inches away. That way it wont grow up into the lights. Just make sure you don't have any leafs growing directly at the bulbs lol.

Find on of those glass feeders, you know one that you tip upside down and it waters your plants for a week or 2

Depending on where you live you can find them at Wall Mart, Kmart, and basically any other major store chain.
