My plants grow fine until they get to a certain point and the leaves begin twisting and curling as if it has been locked in a dark room and it is searching for light. IMG199.jpgThe one on the right GDP was healthy growing an inch a day then it stopped. New growth twisted and that's that.

Room
1000w 18 hrs a day 4 ft above plants. 70 degree average.
Miracle grow 6 mo feed. PH good. Used plenty of perlite to ensure good drainage.
The only thing that I can think of is that I was smoking in the room with the plants which I have quit a week ago, (but my clones are thiving)????????
Now the one on the left is begining to do the same thing. 266.jpg Any help is appreciated.

The younger of the two isn't even in MG.
I just started a generic nute feeding of 10-15-10 every watering. It is called Plant food...lol

Lower your water pH to 5.5 before watering. It will be buffered by the soil. Do not use any nutrients for a while. MG products are famous for their "timed release" killer nute balls in their soil mixes.

I will quit using MG for sure. But this happened last year when I was using Kellog soil. It has to be somehing I am doing.

Overwatering is the number #1 cause of death in plants kept by man. Seriously I would repot using different medium and get those questions out of your mind. Drainage cannot be overemphasized while many volume expanders hold water/nutrients and provide a steady supply to the longer roots. Cut any and all feedings and use just water for a week if yu can't transplant.

Wal Mart sells Pro Mix which is soil free basically. It needs perlite/vermiculite added (it has some but not nearly enough for our purposes). It also has the bonus of mycorrizhae beneficial added. It's cheap too!

How about dissolved metals in water? water temps? Water retention of the soil- if the soil doesn't saturate evenly you can get water runoff before the plants have a chance to use water to absorb nutes... explain the yellowing and drooping of one of the plants. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend SuperThrive plant hormone. Adds a little boost to plant health and supports nute absorption.

But I'm new. So yeah.. Best of luck!

Actually I just dealt with this myself. I found that my PH was off big time. I corrected it and had the same issue. New growth with black tips and funny curling twisting leaves. I backed off the nutrients and yep, that was my issue.

I made the rookie mistake of not exactly knowing where to start off at. started at 800, then to 500, and now I'm at 200 PPM. Issue is gone.

I also noticed a difference when I turned down my watering cycles to 15 on/15 off. I thought I was over watering, but in fact, the reduction of nutrient to the plant helped a lot but didn't cure it until I actually went to 200ppm @ 5.8

I would suggest just running water for a bit, and then ease into the nutes. Your plants will seriously be angry if you nute burn them. They hate it.

Maybe it does have to do with the MG soil. I do notice a bunch of those nute balls when I transplant. Maybe they all release about the same time throwing the plants into shock. But that still doesn't explain the other plant in the 707 soil.

Just to clarify, yes, my girls are the happiest I have seen them yet!! I lowered the PPM today, and within' hours, I noticed a significant change in their demeanor :)

Hotrodharley: Maybe I am over watering?
My watering is the only thing that is consistant and that has nothing to do with the two different soils...
