depends how much heat is coming off them and if they are rooted clones or still trying to produce roots. If there is no roots yet i would put them at about 10 inches above and if they have a good root mass already i would lower them to prob 3-4 inches away but you are going to have to adjust daily to keep them from growing up in the light hope that helps I am really stoned right now

Agreed. It depends on how much heat is coming off them. If they well established themselves already 3-4 inches is the general safe zone but with a cooling system even as simple as a fan like I use you can go lower. I had my t8 fixture sitting 1-2 inches over my babies and they did fine. And yes you will have to adjust daily as well with that method but closer the light without hurting them the better :) keep me posted with pics\updates if you like
 
the only problem is you will have to raise almost daily being that close but the good news is they wont be stretched out
