Hi guys, I have just purchased a 1200 watt grow tent kit, it came with a 5" inline carbon filter, got a couple of fans asswell. My question is does anyone know if the 5" filter will be able to cope with the heat? Will just be exhausting around 3-4 feet straight into loft or will I need to purchase another fan to bring colder air into the tent. Please help

Incoming air is what temp? Sounds though like you have yet to put plants in it. Set it up and turn it on...

Did the carbon filter come with a fan? The filter doesnt do anything without a fan coneccted to it, the cfm of the fan is what is important. I would think if someone put together a tent/light/fan/filter package it would all be suitable to work together just fine, thats why they do that right? So you dont have to guess on everything or figure ot out yourself.

Yeah I've not put any plants in it yet, will temperature not change when plants are in? The air going in if needed would just be room temperature window open if needed

Yes there's 5" out take fan to go on filter

Whats the cfm rating of the fan? No the temp shouldnt change much at all until you have it packed full and are late in flower, but then just get a couple clip fans to move the air around and your good to go.

Like bravedave said, set it up, run it a day and take your temp readings, then you got some numbers to work with.

Plant will affect RH more than heat. A dry run will give you good info. Light on, fan on... Check the temp around .5 meters below your light. Fans do not bring temps down unless sucking warm air out and pulling cooler air in..."room temp" I assume means some set value. The room my grow exists inside can vary between -30F and 110F.

Hey bro it's an old post but got an update. Finally got my grow room sorted it's got clones going in this weekend. Got 600 watt hps, 6inch extractor/filter, 5 inch intake, 2 clip on fans and a big fan if needed, room measures about length 5.5 feet width 5,5 feet and height peaks in middle at 5 feet 8 inches so I've got an nft 604 tank running down the way in the middle so I can maximise the height, got 3 blue cheese going in, scrog netting is there for when needed. Just done a dry run and my temps were 75.8 and humidity at 44% is that sound OK? My extractor is only running at half its capacity and thats o ly with one fan running. Any advice be appreciated

Am I wrong in that thinking a dry run is a total waste of time for checking the environment? When your table has 3 large rockwool blocks or a mat on it with water running through it on a regular basis, your plants are transpiring, and the res is evaporating you may have something totally different going on, I aren't saying its wrong I just don't get it?

I'd say a big fcuk yes mate NFT is the worst for high RH ime but good for growing if you can keep RH down to the mid forties in flower just to be on the safe side. Which BC you growing?

Oh man I love it but my last seed grow was a bit musky or earthy when dried, it was totally knockout smoke but not fruity berry in any way, in fact it tasted like a quality old school resin we used to get called 'red leb' but had the familiar cheese hint, how do explain a smell! It roots easily for clones too which is handy! Oh and its smell gets all over you and just never goes, its quite addictive!

Yeah I'm getting clones off ma my mate, I had a choice of blur cheese and trainwreck, very hard choice lol both a quality smoke, went with the cheese love that shit, trainwreck makes me giggle like a wee girl lol, his trainwreck grow he just done was pretty impressive colas the size of my forearm 21ounce under a 600 scrog in nft
