i have 10, 3 gallon hempy buckets what would i need to put them on a home made auto feeder? i think i need to put them higher then the reservoir and get a fish tank water pump and some tubing to run to each bucket and back to the tank? what size tank do i need? what pump ? any thing else? i'd like to get stuff from home depot and walmart if possible? thanks for any help.

I would set it up like a flood and drain table, with 1 big tray holding your buckets, raised above a reservoir. I would feed with a pump with tubes like you said, maybe make a drip ring on each bucket. Pumps will be half as much if you buy them online somewhere like htgsupply, but you can get them from the store. Maybe get like around 400ghp? not sure. Youll have you figure out how much you water them each time to figure res size. Maybe figure a gallon for each one at least. So go 20 gl res to be safe.

Yeah if you are going to do it, do it right, you could also consider a hempy wick system, that way there is no run off and you just fill the res once in a while. I have a link to a thread at IC that talks about a wick coco system, should work the same.

not a bad idea
you would prolly need more holes in the hempy buckit (i'm thinkin like a total of 3) so it can drain faster

maybe even run like a 1in or larger tubing to each of the buckits
the rez would have to be lower then the setup
you wouldn't want the buckit retaining water higher then the over flow return hole/tube
i would measure the rez with water and nutes to be at least 1in above the return tube that way no 1 bucket could retain more water and nutes then the others. the return hole or line should be screened to keep it free of debris.
but i'm thinking because the whole line system is inclosed you can have the return/overflow line as wide as you want or need to pervent flooding and sence there is a rez in every buckit root should not dry

IDK............this is just a concept idea
