Hempy bucket for autoflower questions

I was thinking of trying a hempy bucket grow with 2 autoflowers. I will be starting from seed of course. The seeds will be started in root riot cubes. I see some people start the seedlings in a small red solo cup in 100% perlite till the roots start to grow good. Then transplant into the final hempy bucket. I plan on trying it with autos, autos dont like to be transplanted. So if I started them in cups, should I just let them grow in the cups? Should I transplant them later into a bigger humpy bucket? Or should I just start the seeds in the final hempy bucket then I dont have to worry about transplanting? If I start autos in the final hempy from the start. Will the roots still have time to grow down into the res since autos have a short veg period?

Try to not interfere with the plants growing process a lot. just K.I.S.S

IMO, go ahead and plant it in the final container, after letting the watering and letting the soil sit for a few days. its the safer option that you have.

the roots will grow fast, but you don't say what size bucket you will use. While you wait for the roots to hit the res, you water often (instead of every two-three days when the roots are taking from the res)

I will be using 2 gallon bucket or maybe a 2ltr soda bottle. I got the auto seeds for free. So I am just trying them out in a small hempy bucket.

Glad to hear your are thinking hempy....I truly believe it's the simplest method to grow pot and has really cheap start up costs.

I have tried both 2L bottles and a 11 litre bucket (2.5 US Gal)....I think I'm favouring the bucket, but my indoor/sunshine grow was in a 2L pop bottle which yielded 67 grams

you can start your seeds in dirt, rock wool or a peat moss plug ( I have tried all 3 ways)...it doesn't really matter much, hempy is flexable

A soil core (and cap) works well in a hempy, so you can start in a regular solo cup and place in the big bucket in a few weeks.

Auto's don't like being transplanted and I don't like transplanting, so I started right from the rock-wool/plug/soil into the final bucket. (this may not be ideal as it takes more time to establish the roots but I'm not in a race)

Attached is an auto in a bucket...and also some in 2 litre pop bottles in pic # 3

ok thank you very much. I am new to hempy so what is a soil cap? Is that starting seeds in a cup, then cutting off the bottom of the cup and then transplant into the final pot?

yeah....just remove the entire paper cup, and place in the hempy.....also a soil cap is about an inch or two of soil on the top of your perlite/vermiculite

You can see one of my buckets had a soil cap, the other didn't

ok got it. so what is better for hempys. Should it be 100% perlite or should I use hydroton? I was thinking of the bottom part of the bucket would be hydroton and the rest would be perlite, with a soil cap.

I just like to keep it stupid simple....so I started with 3:1 perlite/vermiculite....and my last grow was 100% perlite.

My thought was to learn the basics, then consider alternates....but I'm still going to stick with the ABC's

Can you tell me what the final solution was? Is it best to start in a solo cup hempy or just put right into 2 gallon hempy?

Also, is better to have the regular, small perlite or the chunky?
Thanks

if it's an auto start in the final bucket...if not an auto you can do either or

chunky is better but costs more, so I use the cheap stuff

I was wondering im starting hempy 100 percent perlite and rapid rooter plugs...when i water before the roots hit the rez, do i water around the perimeter of the rooter or the accual plug
