Hempy buckets

This page at Simply Hydroponics LLC has an ebb and flow tutorial that's very similar to the way hempy buckets are set up although the hole is .5" above the bottom and the nutrient solution is recirculated until the plants have used up half of what's in the res. At that point, fresh water is added to top of the res. That being the case, why is it not okay to recirculate in hempy but okay to recirculate in a system that's so similar?

drain to waste is superior in many ways. no ph issues, no NPK imbalances, etc.

Nice! I need to rig up a drip feed system for my 3x3 soiless mix tray.I'm handwatering now,but once the tray is full it's gonna be tedious with my pump sprayer.
I like the multi outlet manifold that rky linked . I'd need 20+ sites to drip to tho.Envisioning all those lines has my brain hurting.
just like a nice spaghetti dinner!! i label all mine so it's easy to figure out which is which. but i only do 4 at a time

wow your awesome if it was up to me to water I would not have any bud to smoke(I'm forgetful and busy) It is a lot of lines at first... I have one pump for two pots... I have eight lines which branch in to four, but like anything you get used to it and find easier ways....for me it lets me focus on other things, and everything works different for different people this is just where I ended up after soil then rockwool then DWC and event tried organics trying to find my niche, and strait perlite is what works best for me and soil is very hard and unforgiving

yeah, that's at the point where how many manifolds and pumps can you fit in your res. those DiG manifolds that i use are nice where the flow is the same for each outlet.
Gonna do some research on drip systems and builds.
I know it's the way to go for what I want. It would be either a 17 gal tuff tote res or larger.Maybe the next size up,I think 27gal.

lol awesome? nah, thank you just too lazy & busy to build a drip system atm. While I don't mind handwatering,it can be inconvenient at times.
I loved my str8 perlite runs. Hempys & Fabric pots hand watered for nearly 4 years lol. Sheesh, thinking about it,I had no life back then. The yeild and relatively ease of growing was gravy tho.

I just bought the floraflex matrix system once all the parts come in I'll show how it comes out. I plan on making an elevated drain table and putting the supply and drain bins underneath

Hey growers I’m have some dramas/questions hopefully someone can help me out with. I had posted this on another forum but no answers so I’ll try on here.

growing 4x black dominos in 14L (3.5gal) buckets. %100 perlite. Buckets are draining into a catchment tote below. I have a automated watering setup next to my tent. It had 4x air stones in the bottom plus a recirculating pump that pumps from the bottom, around a ring then falls back into res (5mins every 1hr) a timer comes on for 35secs every night at 7pm.

NUTRIENTS PH/EC RES

45L (11.8gal) water ph 7.0 ec 200
(Lucas) maxibloom 30g = 1/2 rate
10ml calimagic
10ml armor Si
3ml Southern ag fungicide (hydrogaurd)
2ml Pondzyme
Ph down

PH to 5.8 and EC Is normally around 1.0 - 1.2(normally leave nutes until next day before watering re ph to 5.8)

so my dramas are. My plants always seem to have brown spots on leaves, weird curling leaves, stunted grow, yellowing tips or something frustrating going on with them. Not sure if it’s EC/PH too high or to low. Or ph being locked out.

The research I’ve found.
Some say yes some say no to checking runoff ph, some thing it’s pointless and not accurate and as long as you feed them correct PH it’s ok. Is this true? Cause feed mine at 5.8 and runoff is always higher 6.2-6.3
Checking EC runoff is this “inaccurate” as PH runoff?

When making my buckets I added a air stone to each bucket. Could the air stones be making the ph fluctuate in the buckets RES??

here’s some pics of my plants with lights on/off. Any information would be helpful before I go MAD! Lol
Edit* last pic lights off had a light on behind me that’s why half plant is brighter.
ADDED RECENT PICS AS OFF TODAY (last 2 pics)

I have listened to people tell me not to check ph run off and I lost my entire first crop as a result even today with some experience under my belt I check ppm and ph run off every morning at 5am and again at 7pm...every time my ppm run off was as little as 10-25 ppms over my influx the strain I work with shows early signs on burnt tips...every time my ph run off drops below 5.7 I see haunted growth twisted leaves and discoloration along with burnt tips from lock out... now I just follow what I know...numbers don’t lie I stopped coco and soil Hempy buckets are the way to go ph in 5.8 2 days later it will drift to 6.3-6.5 re water boom good 2 go....I have found that with coco perlite mix in my Hempy buckets that ph doesn’t drift up it drifts down so I ph that on to 6.5 and check my res and it’s 6.3 in 2 days it will drift down to 5.7-5.5

Another this I have noticed with 100% perlite Hempy buckets if I go another day without watering(3 days) when buckets are bone dry I’ll throw in 550-575ppm and collect first runoff in a cup...it’s always like 50-75nppm less than what’s going in almost like their eating the notes before they hit the res...idk many the perlite steals some of the massive amount of cal mag I put in their like coco...
