Here to answer some questions for newbies...

I figured since I've got this new status of Teaching How to Roll, I could lend some of my time here to the Newbie Central crew and answer any questions anyone has. I can't guarantee to know the answer, but if I don't, I won't lie to you and tell you something. So, shoot!

im not really a newby, but whats your take on cleaning mild powdery mildew off a finished/finishing plant.. im thinking hydrogen peroxide and water. or milk water. any suggs?/?

1/10 SKIM Milk. 9/10 Water.

I wouldn't touch hydrogen peroxide to my plants, but that's just me. Some people don't have problems with it.

have you done this close to harvest.. do you speak from experience?? could you taste it.

I have not done this close to harvest. I do not speak from experience. Never had any issues with PM, but this is the method I have heard time and time again.

Always a good method. If it works on one, it should work on all. But if it doesn't work on one, it's a damn good thing you didn't spray all, ya know?

And yes, Phish is the bomb. Seen some shows in your day?

yeah the "last one" in vermont. calvary i think it was. few years ago. it was a 3 day fest and it rained the whole time like a fucked up woodstock. it was a blast.

So you don't listen to ALOT of Phish? The concert was August 15-17 (I think, I didn't check dates on this) 2003 or 2004. Most Phish fans regard it as the worst show they ever played. But either way, it's a Phish show, and I'm sure it was blast. They're back now, you should try to go catch a show this or next year. They are playing great this year.

hey Auzzie07 was about to make my own post but couldnt pass up the opertunity to learn from another aussie.

im on my first grow

ok im waiting for my 0.5m x 0.9m x 1.2m high grow tent to come into stock. it will be perfect size for the space i have for it. and i have set myself a limit of 250w of lighting as i said its my first grow and i think this will offer me the results im after without overdoing it, also i dont want some of the people i live with wondering whats going on with the power bill.

so im wondering about the heat output with a 250w mh/hps in the space of the grow tent above. and if i have to add ducting and a fan it will have to be pretty quiet (brands?, size?). and also if i did vent it would be vented into a closet about 2m x 2m x 3m, so not that big either, but door can be left open into a much larger room if necessary.

also what would be the time difference/quality if i decided to skimp n just buy the hps for my first grow and not the mh? plan on flowering at about 18in.

blz bud and white widow currently vegging under 2 48w 5000k cfls in the mean time(still only small).

i was more of a dead head, but liked alot of phish.. but yeah i didnt recognize shit they played and that pissed me off.. but the experience was great.. canada pot shops, stopped at the border niagra greyhound home for 3 days... i do listen to phish alot though in my 30 years..

Thank you very much for the newbie help! I have a question or two....
I am planning my first attempt at growing MJ indoors in soil. I have been reading and reading and learning and learning how to become a good gardener. So basically I'm thinking a Jardin tent 60cmX60cmX120/160cm, a 400w air cooled HPS, passive intake and carbon filter/exhaust fan,ducting etc,etc. Will a 400w hps be a bit much? Or would I be better off with a 250w hps?
I would like to grow just 4 plants,4 strains in total but realise I will need to start with say at least 12 0r 16 seeds in order to better my chances of 4 females.....
I would love to grow more, but don't want to push my luck and wind up in prison.........

update:.. I had a light PM problem on my week 7-8 bloom table.. the strain was bubblegum.. i sprayed them with whole milk 1 part to 9 part water ph'ed. I used the whole for two days then switched to 2% because it was leaving too much residule.. after 4 days 2 with whole 2 with 2 % the Powder mildew was virtually vanished .. so it worked very well.. and as for the taste test.. i didnt taste anything.... nothing .. one of the better tasting crops.. and definatly better that the flo harvested before with light PM>> milk 1part water 9 parts.. works great.
