Nice grow :hump:

I dont see as much hate towards CFL's lately but rather loyalty to MH/HPS. My feelings are "go with what makes you happy". I have seen great results from CFL's :hump:

Personally I dont want bulbs hanging all over the place and cords and y adapters etc... but hats off to you !!! Great job brother :hump:

Ya to anyone who says cfls are bunk then f u c k y o u.this is a prime example of what 30$ worth of light bulbs can do.my 70 watt hps can be kept within 3 inches of the plant which is awsome.the cfls can pretty much touch the dam plant and are great for side lighting as well as top.your gro is awsome and fuck the haters man u gettin high for praticly nuthin with no hidro bill.ne one that doubts this should watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6NGvDLtPCw this is a pro t5 setup so fuck y'all
Its more like $100 but nice grow.bongsmilie

i dont know man t 5's here are 24 $ for a double ballest light setup whick is enough to grow at least one plant so shitty deal for u paying a hundred dollars and if u have a small setup and just want 1 light go to a building center and buy a 150 watt hps bulb and ballest for about 89$ and thats more than enough like for 2 small plants like low ryder.can't wait to c some of your bud picks man some nice bud porn.my plant is 4 ft tall 1 week into flushing and i'm fucking jacked up to smoke sumthin i grew

Fantastic grow my friend. I'm using 8 cfl's too. 20watt and 42watt. I'd love to even have plants turn out 30% as good as yours.

Nice one.;-)

He mentioned 26w and 42w bulbs.

1800 lm / 26 W = 69.2 lm/W
2800 lm / 42 W = 66.7 lumens/watt

But 200W bulbs output 10,000 lumens for a lower 50 lumens/watt.

Seven 26W bulbs outputs 12,600 lumens with 182 watts.
Or four 42W bulbs for 11,200 lumens and 168 watts.

Fluoroscents don't vary much in intensity. The majority of the lumens are created from additional volume inside the glass, creating much bigger(less efficient) bulbs.

What might seem a bit of a paradox, hopefully not if you've understood the above, bigger higher wattage CFL bulbs run cooler than the lower watt bulbs. This makes sense by the numbers, and the few people I've seen doing grows with them also claim they run cooler.

But most CFLs can burn plants if they're touching or too close.

+Rep for that plant. Very nice.

Looks damn awesome man!:bigjoint:

I just started my first grow and I'm using bagseed with 26w and 42w CFLs as well. Just put my girl into flower two days ago. Your pics just gave me a lot more confidence. I was worried that CFLs wouldn't perform very well for flowering, but you just proved that wrong! Way to go!!!

wow man thats awesome. im at like 350watts of cfls right now. 8 cfls total im hopeing i can get results like that. im growing 3 plants in a 8sqft grow area. how much dried weight was that?

Yeah Im for real dude,Im amazed with the cfl's myself. But like we said earlier this is some bagseed with obvious good genetics.I have clones from the first plant that are mothers now.

Thanks for the rep and pointing that out tea tree oil,Thats what we looked at.lumens/watt ratio.we saw those big 300 watt cfls's at the depot, but the lumen/watt ratio sucks.and yes they can burn if too close. We just went through that with the 2 mother plants.we thought there was a nutrient problem, with leaves at the top turning brown and curling up.we realized it was the cfl's too close (1'' away) so your right, you do have to be careful.

We are cutting the last of sweet Mary down this morning.a few tears will be shed, seeing this beautiful lady go down.shes so pretty its hard to want to cut her.weve taken cuttings off for three days.right now the main cola and some remaining small buds are left.We are gonna attempt to re-veg her, which Ive never tried before.but I would love to get some clones from her.the ones we initially cut from her died, due to overwatering/drainage problems.so Im trying to leave some lower foliage and smaller buds on bottom branches.I will also cut the root mass down to try and help her.
without the main cola cut yet,we are gonna be around 3 1/2 ozs. off this plant total.:weed:when its all dry I'll have a better number but were 3 all day long.we shoot for 65-70% drying and then into jars for curing.heres some pics:leaf:

i germinated the seeds on november first and harvest was march 3. yeah its dry weight. one thing i did notice is with cfls it did take my prodominantly indica stain to flower for almost 11 weeks. seemed like it took forever to ripen.
im just a stupid ass newb i dnt even know how to post forums so idnt even know how to make a grow journal, if someone would tell me how i would be delighted to share my past and previous grows.;-)

Did not know this, just figured the larger the bulb the more heat, Good to know.
I'm going to test it for my self soon in a small grow box .

thanks for the rep man.Yes it is very tempting to want to take a big bite out of one:leaf: especially with these, they smell grapefruity, with a hint of skunkiness.but mostly fruity.very smooth smoke and its nowhere near cured at all. the buds from Jane(1st plant harvested) are getting more smell back everyday.it has a hay smell for a few days that slowly fades back to the original smell.

Thanks for all the kudos guys:mrgreen:
yesterday morning we cut the main cola off Mary and left some lower foliage and small buds.were debating whether or not to try to reveg.
I needed something to hang the big buds in to dry.the paper bags were flattening the buds from their own weight.and were drying to slow(dont want mold)only 30-35% humidity here.so I looked around the house and found this sneaker box.I put some 25 lb. fishing line through it and some razor cuts for ventilation. It works mint!! I will dry the buds to 65-70% weight loss.the main cola will be in a jar at around 15-17 grams. Some pics Enjoy:weed:

Nice F&%king grow, I have a few questions for you:

Did you have any problems with heat? I'm thinking of growing in a 5ft H x 4ft W x 2ft D and wondering if I will have problems with heat (I will probably vent the area with a computer fan or something, haven't decide yet, but am considering using a similar amount of wattage).

Lastly, I'm not following your math, you said you used 8 bulbs total, some 26w and some 42w for a total of about 380w. Even if you used 8 42w bulbs that would only put you at a total of 336w. Please explain. I'm not trying to be a jag, you obviously did a damn good job, I just want to see how to did it.

No problems with heat.i have fans circulating air,and venting from another room will solve any heat issues. It was actually 8-42 and 2-26=388 watts 42 watters put out 2700 lumens/each.26 put out 1300/each or something like that.

Thanks for the clarification, I don't have another room to vent from unless I count the closet separately from the room it's in. I'll have to do a dry run before I do any growing just to see were I'm at with heat. How do I rep you? I just rated the thread high, maybe that's the same thing.
