Hermie seeds

Of the many yrs I've grown this is the first time I've had a hermie, believe it or not.
Question: are hermie seeds any good to grow or is it not worth it?

a topic near to my heart, and many arguments - growing out a hermie seed right now - have had good results on the whole, though it's small numbers

every year i start beans and flower them. take clones when i switch to 12/12 and then take 1 more round of clones from those clones before flowering. so i get 3 grows and done for the rest of the year.

sometimes the 1st round i find a herm and chop it and get rid of the clones from the herm. after round 1 has been cured, sometimes i find 1 or 2 beans. i never find any beans in the next two rounds of clones.

2 years ago my round 1 DNA recon had 1 bean so i saved it and labeled. the clones produced no beans

last year i grew the recon bean i found and it was female and again round 1 had 1 bean. i had 2 hermies last year in round 1. anyway the clones from the recon for the next 2 rounds had no beans. also this recon hermie bean was pretty much the same plant as the original recon i grew.

i will definately try this again and keep close watch.

Great question DeeTee... but I find it curious that a “Veteran Smoker / Mr. Ganja”, a RIU member since 2008 would post this rather complex debatable question in "Newbie Central".

Typically this section is inundated with noob’s such as myself, asking those rudimentary questions concerning the fundamentals of growing...this is far above my head, but I'm sure bmeat will tell you all about herman :)

it depends on what you mean by hermie seeds dee tee..

is the plant that you're growing atm a hermie, and came from a seed? or did you have a hermie plant in the garden which knocked up the girls in the garden and now you have seeds from the hermie daddy?
if it's the second, the hermie genetic is pretty dominant and usually tends to show up on his / her offspring.. it's not always 100% of course, but it is a dominant gene and not recessive ...

if it's the first and you got one plant out of a pack of beans that hermied on you, it could just be the one bean and the rest could still all be good ime..

sure..if you want seeds plus smokeable buds. if you have other plants, dont let IT grow.

was it a regular or feminized seed?

my GUESS would be that the new crop would be very likely to hermie as well though. try it out if you dont have other females in the vicinity.

Yeah chop it down if you want that sinsemilla crop for the surrounding plants but what happens if you spray a herm with colloidal silver?

Oh god he used google search wow I'm asking though if the hermie will still push male flowers to produce feminised seeds
i knew that already. everyone resorts to the "copy and paste, copy and paste".

only reason i "copy and paste" is to prove a point, BECUASE YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE ME IF I EXPLAINED IT MYSELF.

its called citations. go earn your g.e.d.

im out here though, i dont want to disrepect sunni, who hasnt disrespected me.

depends on the condition that caused the plant to be monoecious. If it was an environmental condition or genetic. I had a plant that had heat stress this past summer. It hermaphrodited on one limb producing 7 seeds, 5 were viable, all females, with no monoecious condition.

So how about you try and answer my question then wise guy instead of just telling information I already know.
i did. spraying a male or a herman with silver will not do anything.

spraying a female will change her hormones and produce female pollen.
