Hermie?

a few days ago I chopped a few bottom buds, that weren't getting enough light to fully develop, to give more food to the upper buds. I dried them and then broke them up and..... FUCK.... SEEDS! A gd damn hermie!!!! I just descovered that the main colas have seeds in them too! Damn fuck shit motherfucker!!! ARRRRGGGG!!!!

I'm noticing lots of sacs but no bananas. Every cola has fully developed seeds and some still developing. I thought the sacs were more flowers forming (it's my first grow). should I chop it and make the best of what's there?

Why would you chop? The plant is already seeded. Chopping won't do anything at this point. Finish the plant, dry, pick out the seeds, smoke.

I just don't get this concept many have of chopping a plant early because it's been pollinated and has seeds. If you had multiple plants in a tent and notice one was forming male parts I can see culling that plant before it released pollen to prevent seeding the entire crop. But this chop early because it's been pollinated and has seeds makes no sense.

I have read that if a plant turns hermie... chop it before the whole plant loses potency. I am partly guided by experienced growers, online posts and articles, and my own inexperience. Sucks to be a newbie.... I'll be well beyond newbie by next year.

okay... I'll take a closer look for sacs at the nodes and nanners
It's too late for that now. Finish the plant. It's almost done anyway. The plant isn't going to lose potency by letting it finish but you'll lose potency by chopping before it's done. It's already been pollinated. There is nothing you can do at this point other than let it finish and pick out the seeds.

Thanks Bob. It's the strangest thing. It started about a month ago. A calyx will sprout out of a bud and spit out a pistil... the pistil dies... calyx doesn't open... seed forms. I only just found out today that a seed was forming. Before today, my inexperience chalked it up to be part of the budding process. Is it possible that I've been mistaking nanners for leaves? Is that a common mistake?

Some questions: There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of trichs. Can I still get good potency? What about future grows... will I have to disinfect the tent, light, fans, humidifier.....

I see a lot of burnt leaves, so u may have stressed it into hermy

Nanners look like little bananas, do some research so you know what your looking for, way different look than leaves

Yes u will need to spray everything down with a bleach mixture when done

I had a Burmese Kush herm.

I let it finish. The trichomes looked normal at harvest.

1/2 of it went to press and the other we made edibles with.
The seeds were processed through.

No hassle and decent final products.:eyesmoke:

Thanks. I've done a shit load of research... seen many pics of nanners and pollen sacs and calyx's. But I've lost all fan leaves and half the bud leaves that are left are yellow. Sometimes I've looked at a bud and seen what appeared to be a banana but upon closer inspection it looked more like a yellow leaf that had a banana kinda warp to it. Was it really a banana? I don't know for certain and thought I would check it out with you... most of the pics online don't give a very accurate depiction of a nanner and all it's variations.

I've spent good money on my setup so believe me... I've done a lot of reading to make it worth my while: HGL v2 rspec 550, 4x4 tent, 6" vector cf and fan for outgoing and a 6" cloudline for intake, fans, insulated ducting, vapor barrier, deoderizing chamber, not to mention an MQ 500 par meter, Apera ph and ec tester, western humidor Caliber lV RH sensor, and of course, cervantes bible.... total investment is about 3k to date.

I've read posts and articles and watched tons of videos on all things cannabis... germinating, growing, lighting, biology, nutrients, trouble shooting... but still... reading about riding a bike and actually riding it can be and usually is a very different experience. I'm really grateful that experienced growers like yourself are here to help and do apologize for when my questions seem a little on the daft side :)

Thanks again!
Cheers
