Slightly ajar will not suffice as you will need to create air movement constantly this is where the air vents come into it.

I beginning to design you a picture on paint at the minute.

What is your top budget for the setup only?

We're getting all our stuff (lighting, medium, nutes, fan, thermometer, PH meters etc) of ebay and friends. General budget £300.

Right, that's excellent. I have a clear view now of what to do and what's needed. It seems a simple setup and perfect setup.
Is there anything else you're needing to know??

NO thats it

With that diagram and a bit of cash you can get it all sorted.

Just make sure you get the RVK125L1 not the A1 you may want to look on ebay for the stuff. Like i said with the diagram and it setup like that you should be good.

Just make sure that any bends in ducting are kept at a minimum anything under a 110degree angle can cause problems. try to keep ducting as straight as possible.

the rest is up to you. But if i had your situation that is what i would do.

I take it you get it that i put the door to the side to show you where to put the vents. In your actual scenario the door would be in position on the diagram but with it there its a bit hard to read. lol

Let us know how you get on finding all the stuff.

A word of warning is dont buy a second hand lamp or ballast. You have no idea how often or how old they are. Lamps should be changed every 9-12months ballasts depending on manufacturer last a pretty long time. Magnetic ballasts last longer than digital but digital ballasts run cooler.

Right, there is a lamp on ebay which is brand new. And also, should the carbon filter be 125mm also?? And from what I understand, the carbon filter gets fid of the smell, although for some reason my man won't believe me until you say it lol.

Yes a carbon filter removes the smell.

Now you have to match the m/3 per hour of your fan to the m/3 per hour of the carbon filter. Yes you should get a 125mm carbon filter.

If you cant match exactly the numbers on the fans and the filters dont worry too much it should be ok.

I found a 250W HPS/ MH electronic ballast, hangers, timer on Ebay for $150 w/ shipping. Not sure on shipping to UK though.

The 1st or the 2nd combo? I thought the 2nd looked more adaptable to match the setup you gave me. The 1st didn't seem to.
So that combo, with the light, with a moving fan is the main setup we need?
