HFCS 's supposedly increase appetite.... and since it is in nearly everything we buy....
what does that say about our country? (America) or even the world, if it is also in their/your foods... is it in your foods too?
because this is an enormous contributing factor to American obesity...

there's no evidence that HFCS increases apetite...but there is evidence that HFCS intereferes with a hormone responsible for satiety (making you feel full) and that hormone is ghrelin

HFCS is an awful product though...also associated with higher risk for type 2 diabetes, obesity (obviously), and stresses the liver immensely, as it must secret enzymes to aid in digestion

i do appreciate all that i learned as a nutrition student tho...health, and the body, is the most relative thing you can learn abou

Yep, high fructose corn syrup isnt good for you at all.

I like to look for foods that do not have HFCS. However, it is almost impossible to rid it entirely from our diets.

Here are few things I eat on a regular basis.....

Kashi bars / Kashi cereal. Strawberry fields is my favorite!!

Home cooked meals with fresh veg

Natural Cheetos

Sushi

Sandwiches (smuckers organic grape jelly / organic peanut butter)

Beer

Thats just to name a few things without HFCS

If I'm correct, High Fructose is Made by Heating Corn until it is Unstable, then Genetically Modifing it to make it Stable, Consumable, & Sweet... A quite Complex ordeal, but done at a cheaper production rate, Which means Bigger Profits. Instead of the laboring task of harvesting Natural Sweetners.

It's Great for Making Money

I could be wrong too!! I just know a diet that consists of soft drinks and Sweets are bad for you

Yeah this is nasty stuff.

Damn us and our need to find new uses for corn!

The calories that we consume and the technologies that have slowed the amount that we no longer move as a society (tv, cars, computers, fridges, running water) have evolved much faster than we have.

This is where it is important to understand evolution and where our species has came from. We need to get back on track.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is just another unintended consequence of the "Do Gooder" mentality of those in our government.

Thirty years ago, the federal government, in an effort to protect our sugar beet growers from foreign competition, raised the tariffs on imported sugar. As a result, sugar prices in the U.S. skyrocketed overnight. The food processors had to find a cheaper way to sweeten their products, so HFCS was invented. It was soon discovered that HFCS extends shelf life of food products as well, so its used as a preservative. This is why we find it in products where we wouldn't expect it ... like Thomas English Muffins for example.

HFCS suppresses a person's insulin level and doesn't allow the brain to produce the chemical that tells the body that its full. Super size me baby!

So, we've had HFCS in our diets for thirty years, and the obesity epidemic is thirty years old. Hmmm ... is there a correlation here? Duh.

That's funny.

In the real ads, the corn industry says: Safe in moderation." The question is, how in hell do you ingest HFCS in moderation when 90% of the food offered in "normal" markets contain the stuff?

Why not become a vegan? I have been a vegan for quite some time now. Not one product i eat has any gmo or hfcs, and all are organic. mind you i think its pretty easy for a single person to adapt a vegan lifestyle but its very expensive for a family of 5+ to adapt to the high prices of the products.

I'm pretty close to an all vegetarian diet, with the exception of a little chicken. Mostly, I eat fish for my protein ... but I find myself going days without any type of meat. I probably eat red meat five times a year at most. Almost everything I eat is grown organically. I shop at the local Farmer's Market or at Whole Foods Market. Also, I check every label. If there is any corn syrup, HFCS or trans fat, I put it back on the shelf.

My usual breakfast consists of 4 scrambled eggs with cheese on top, and 4 pieces of bacon. I smoke two packs a day, a lot of pot too, and I sit on my ass all day everyday.
